Ivalo River Camping offers cosy accommodation and a wide range of services by the Ivalojoki River, half-way between Ivalo Airport and the municipality centre, and with easy access to and from E75. Only 6,5 kilometres to Ivalo airport. Heated cottages with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities, free parking and free WiFi. Café and restaurant in the same with the reception. Open all year around also for camper vans!
I have stayed at Ivalo River Camping several times over the years and it suits my needs perfectly. If you do not require a five star hotel experience, this is a great budget option in Ivalo. The new owners and staff are super friendly. The facilities are simple and that works for someone who only needs a warm place to sleep. The toilet and shower facilities are in a separate building with a kitchen and this is typical of a camping facility in Finland. There is also a restaurant on site.

Experience authentic Lapland under the Auroras. Our Aurora Cabins offer a fantastic view from the comfort of your bed towards the Northern sky where the Northern Lights most often appear dancing on the sky. Aurora Village is a small authentic local accommodation site where you may experience the pure white snow, clean arctic air and meet a pack of reindeer living in the village with us. Grab a pai
Each room is a free standing circular structure, influenced in its design by the indigenous Sami people of the region. Each has a huge bed with a section of the ceiling of glass so one could lie in bed and watch the aurora. We were there in the off season, so no snowmobiles or aurora to comment on. We could take advantage of the hiking trails. Friendly staff and good breakfast buffet. My only negative was that the hotel rooms have centrally controlled temperature and you have to walk to the desk to have them adjusted. They suggested leaving the door open for a while (which worked) to cool the room down.

Hotel Kultahippu is located right in the heart of Ivalo, on the banks of the Ivalojoki River, within immediate vicinity of all the services and the beautiful nature. We provide visitors pleasant accommodation, a wide range of exciting culinary experiences, and friendly service. This family-owned hotel is well known for its warm atmosphere. Welcome and enjoy a relaxing holiday.
Accomodation, breakfast, staff...everything worked fine for me. And location in the middle of the Ivalo village, next to the beautiful ice breaking Ivalo river brought perfect terms for me to take care of my work during 3 working days and then relaxing next to the nature.

Hotel Ivalo is surrounded by Northern Lapland's wilderness and the National Park with its numerous rivers, lakes and fells. From Ivalo you can continue on to Northern Norway, the Arctic Ocean and the North Cape, Hammerfest or the Murmansk region of Russia. The activity service Club Nord provide wintertime experiences such as hunting the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights), enjoying the Lappish nature driving with snowmobiles, husky dog safaris, reindeer or horse sleigh rides. In the summertime, activities include trekking, fishing, canoeing and even gold panning. A visit to the reindeer farm may be the highlight of your stay or indeed a visit to the Sami Museum Siida and the Northern Lapland Nature Centre.
we spent 5 nights in this great hotel. We loved our room, the staff was extremely helpful and helped us with booking of different activities. The restaurant was great, even though the breakfast could be better.

We stayed here with tents for 2 nights. The lady at reception was really sweet and helpful. The area for tents was a lovely grass area which is level with soft soil which made it easy to put the tent pegs into. The showers had good pressure and hot water. There are only two toilets for ladies and 2 for men, so sometimes one had to wait for their turn. There are no hand towels, so you need your own. The kitchen block was small but neat. You can borrow bikes for free to ride up town which was great! The only thing we would change is to pitch our tent away from the cabins. We were unfortunate to have rude people stay up on the first night talking in loud voices while they sat on the verandah of their cabin which was only a few metres away from our tent. We like our peace at night and couldn't sleep. We asked them several times to keep the volume down but they didn't care, and they finally stopped talking about 3am. Why book a place to sleep when you intend to stay up all night and ruin everyone else's sleep? If you're lucky with peaceful campers, it is a lovely place to stay.

Shower was broken and adjusting the temperature changed the water flow at random from very little to barely enough for a shower. The reception did not answer to the call but I left a message in the answering machine but they never got back to me. When checking out they didn't feel too sorry about it just said that "you maanged to stay over night and nobody died". Well, that was true. The infomation that they have at hotels.com also claims that they have air conditioning in the cabin but there is none. When I mentioned about it they just said that there isn't and it is not needed because the temperature outside is not that high.
