The carpet smell very bad inside the room, the rooms were not impeccably clean and the breakfast was not that good either. Also, the cleaning staff left the room window open which lead to a lot of insects inside my room.

Interesting hotel and a good price
Reviewed By vanjo22Since I am tired paying exorbitant fees for - at best - midrange hotels in Wolfsburg, I selected a hotel in Gifhorn; roughly 20km away. The City Hotel Gifhorn is close to the train station (not that I noticed any train) and the entry is a bit funny - a very small room for the reception. The room was great: a good bed in a decently sized room. It offers a (too) small desk and a TV; the bathroom is OK too. In the morning I had a fine breakfast... nothing more required,

This place is strange in several aspects
Reviewed By PauloBaptistaStrange place in several aspects. I will avoid if I can. If it is my decision, never again. Location: residential street in the outskirts of Gifhorn. Reception with reduced staff and reduced opening hours. When I arrived, there was a line of people for check-in, and the service was slow and inefficient. Whenever I left the hotel in the morning, the reception was empty. Maybe due to this, the receptionist demands anyone to pay for the entire stay upon arrival. I gave to the receptionist a company card containing all invoicing elements. Still she had trouble to write a correct invoice, and I had to accept she would make a second attempt later that evening. The receptionist refused to walk 5 meters away from the reception desk to check from the hotel door if my car was properly parked... Unbelievable! She kept just pointing directions and saying “you must check yourself”. Never in my life was I received like this in a hotel, and I have been in hundreds. In one of the evenings, parking spaces in and around the hotel were taken, and I had to park further down in the residential area. I still have no idea if there is a parking on the back side. The staff has zero concept of customer focus. For example, staff taking care of breakfast do not even say a simple “good morning” to clients arriving at the restaurant. Breakfast: basic buffet. Often some products need to be replenished (e.g.: scrambled eggs), and it may be slow. The atmosphere is cold. This does not seem to be a hotel, rather a dormitory for professionals. I arrived to my room around 7 PM, and the room was very cold with open windows (this is quite typical in Germany: be aware of spiders and insects inside your room – always check upon arrival). Room itself was spacious.

Reviewed By Jan Mthe Hotel is great for Travelers who look for a personal touch. the Hotel and restaurant are styled in the old German Farm Style and run by the Owner Couple for over 30Years, when sitting down in the Gaststaette with a draft beer (wich only cost 2,-EURO) the owner couple will tell you about the History of house and town and direct you to any sightseeing or activity the area has to offer.
