Now the Derwent Arms, we have just enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch. Food fresh and cooked just to our taste. No connoisseur, but I enjoyed my wine, and my husband his pint. The welcome was warm, and the staff very friendly and efficient. Absolutely nothing to find fault with. Would highly recommend.

My son and I loved staying here. We stayed a split 3 nights (2 and a 1) whilst on a long weekend in the area. Excellent facilities, perfect for children. Though I am a big kid so I loved the table football and cuddling baby goats - not at the same time! The boy loved walking Sonny the alpaca. Michelle and Ken were fantastic and run a great place. I could say so much more but I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise. A very peaceful place.

100 year old farmhouse with ground floor annexe where pets are welcome. In an AONB on the edge of the Durham Dales. Very peaceful with stunning views. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere. All rooms en suite with TV and WiFi. Home cooked meals and licensed to sell alcohol. 1 field from C2C cycle route and well placed for visiting Durham, Newcastle, Beamish, Hadrians Wall and Northumberland for Alnwick Castle and Lindisfarne.
We had a wonderful warm welcome when we arrived on our bikes cold, tired and dirty. The owners were very apologetic for not being able to offer their usual standard of service and welcome due to Covid restrictions but we felt very welcome, safe and well cared for. Three of us stayed in Bee Cottage (I think). It was SO cosy and exactly what we needed. It was immaculate, spacious and we were soon fighting over the well stocked tray of teas and coffees where the mini Mars bars made our day. Although they're not able to offer their normal 3 course evening meal option, we were able to pre-order a main course - they even had an excellent selection of veggie food which is very unusual. We were also able to order some beer and wine which was the icing on the cake. We were touched at the lengths that they went to to ensure that we felt Covid safe. They had a very well thought out system and stuck to it without losing any of their warmth. I would recommend it without any hesitation.

A rushed late booking led us to one of our best “Inn” experiences. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff who could not do enough for us. Wonderful dinner and a perfect breakfast looking out over the rolling hills of the Northumberland district. Room was lovely and clean with a very comfortable King sized bed. Shower could have done with more pressure but it was still ok. Highly recommend for a relaxing stay.

The Derwent Arms in Edmundbyers lies amongst stunning countryside, bordering both County Durham and Northumberland. With traditional menus focusing on seasonal and local produce, and plenty of local ales available; come and visit us for an afternoon, Sunday lunch or stay all week. We are dog friendly and have six cosy bedrooms available all with their own en-suite and a separate apartment available for families or groups of up to six people.
My sister and I stayed here on our way to a holiday destination for one night and what a little gem this is. There is a good amount of free parking and we received a warm welcome. Staff are friendly and engaging. The bar is nicely decorated and has a very comfortable feel, everyone we met was friendly. Dogs are welcomed in the bar. Our rooms were spotlessly clean and freshly decorated in warm olive green for the bedroom and brown in the spacious bathroom. The white linen is good quality and the bed extremely comfortable. This was the best nights sleep in the quiet country surroundings, with birds tweeting in the morning, Sal great wake up alarm. The large bathroom has a bath and shower, lovely thick white soft towels and toiletries provided. There is tea and coffee making facilities. The food was delicious and the dining busy, and we could see why. I had a starter of poached eggs with asparagus and black pudding with a peppery sauce, amazing and the black pudding is the best I have ever-ever tasted. Breakfast was fabulous and perfectly cooked. I wish we had booked this for our holiday but unfortunately we didn’t. We would definitely return and highly recommend.
