What wonderful smells greet you as you enter this lovely shop. The shopkeeper is so welcoming and full of information. I bought a very unique fish cork trivet as well as soaps. Great prices. Fun items to remember our visit to Skye

A multi-award winning shop providing inspiration for those who seek the bright, bold and offbeat. Imagine a place where colourful Celtic batiks and gorgeous hand loomed cottons combine to grab your attention and a shopping experience like no other. We design and make our own stunning and unique pieces - waxing lyrical since 1987 and still loving what we do!

Island at the Edge - Working croft (small farm) where we raise rare breed sheep and produce knitting yarns, tweed and a range of knitwear. Knitting, spinning and crochet courses from half days to three days. Kilts, accessories and kilt hire. Small private tours and larger group tours welcome. Open all year, come along and meet the sheep and discover our world of wool. We are located on the A850 between Portree and Dunvegan Castle at Edinbane.
A delightful shop and shop tender. Learned about the local wool and knitters. Don’t miss this authentic shop - it’s one of a kind.

Bursting with bright ideas for gifts and souvenirs.Tippecanoe is centrally placed on the main street in Portree the bustling, picturesque 'capital' of Skye. We are open all year round providing a fun shopping experience for all ages. A wide range of carefully chosen prints, books, jewellery, candles, ceramics and cuddly toys....many locally made, many handmade in Scotland or fairly traded from around the world. Friendly service with a big smile too :-)
I always try to buy a piece of art every time I go away but it’s usually something small, a print of about £20-£30 but I had worked hard throughout lockdown and decided to treat myself. It was going to be a piece of jewellery until I saw some art work I loved in Skye (Portree) . I had visited a couple of shops in the town, one of which I saw art I loved but disliked the way I heard the staff speaking to customers and the fact the art was sold as limited but not signed or numbered. I went to Tippecanoe and saw the same artist’s work but signed and numbered and also fully framed. The woman who served me was so chatty and friendly and absolutely understood that this was a big purchase for me. She was attentive to other customers while I was taking up her time. I found the shop inviting, the staff very friendly and the stock was extensive. I’d definitely go back and definitely recommend it to friends and family if they are ever in Skye
