The garden is open from 3rd March to 31st October on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays from 12pm to 5.30pm. The gardens at East Ruston Old Vicarage are one of the most exciting surprises in the county, who would expect to find a verdant, sheltered garden in the prairie landscape that is north east Norfolk? Enter the garden and you are worlds away from the local landscape for here there are many gardens within the whole including a new Walled Garden, Rose Garden, Woodland Garden, Mediterranean Garden and a stunning Desert inspired by the landscape of Arizona. These areas are connected by magical avenues and areas of informal planting with some places allowed to be wildlife friendly which includes a stunning Corn Field that contains the corn field weeds of yesteryear and has been known to move visitors to tears.
Visited on a sunny day in May. The Vicarage gardens have been very cleverly designed so each area has its own unique feel, and at each turn you almost feel you are in a "secret" garden. The planting is stunning and there are plenty of benches to sit on to rest and admire the well thought out design. The woodland area is a sudden contrast to the herbaceous borders. The entrance price may at first seem a little high - but once you pass through the ticket office you realise it is definitely worth the cost. Fabulous tea shop here and great plant shop also.

Hoveton Hall Gardens is part of Hoveton Hall Estate, a small privately owned business located on the edge of the Norfolk Broads. The 15 acre gardens are open to the public from April to September each year. The gardens are a mixture of wild planting and formal walled gardens. There are also two lakes, woodland and parkland for visitors to explore and enjoy. On-site is Garden Kitchen Cafe which is run separately by Alex Firman of Alex Chef Catering. Please note dogs are not allowed in the gardens.
I visited (with a friend) Hoveton Hall Gardens, last Thursday (August 13th), the lady at the gate, was very friendly, me and my friend, enjoyed looking around the Gardens, we enjoyed seeing the Spider Garden, the Kidney Lake, the Glasshouse and Streams, in between, looking around the Gardens, we went to the Cafe, where we were able to buy food & Drink, to take away, we went and sat on a bench, nearby, I enjoyed a bottle of Ginger Beer and a Chocolate Brownie, my friend enjoyed a cup of Tea, afterwards, me and my friend, went for a walk, down by the Lake, where we saw three Swans, I took 19 photographs, at Hoveton Hall Gardens, we didn't have time to see the Ice Well, which I will hopefully see, the next time I visit Hoveton Hall Gardens, recommended for people who like Gardens, and also a relaxing time.

The finest selection of cakes and cheesecakes you'll find in the County, modestly priced and generous servings. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and the garden is a pretty setting and real suntrap. We only had tea and cake today but would happily have eaten anything on the menu, as it all sounded amazing. Everything that came out looked great too. Really vast selection of food to choose from with daily specials board. Sorry no pics, we woofed it all down too quick! We'll definitely be back to sample the Sunday lunch one day soon.

A four acre private garden that has belonged to the Bishop's of Norwich for over 900 years. The garden has many hidden delights such as the large herbaceous borders, boxed rose beds, a large wild flower labyrinth, extensive shrubberies, kitchen garden and collections of rare and unusual plants are just some of the highlights to be found. There is also a successful plant nursery area. The garden has been featured in The English Garden, the RHS magazine, The Garden, the Good Gardens Guide and more recently Country Life. The Bishop and his wife open the gardens on Sundays throughout the summer for different local charities.(Over £40000 raised in 2015). Teas and cakes are available. Children and wheelchair users are FREE. (see website for dates) PLEASE NOTE: YOUR REVIEW IS FOR THE GARDEN ONLY NOT THE EVENT AS WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE QUALITY OF CAKE ETC...Thank you. See website for current open days.
These gardens are open several times a year. Well worth a visit so tranquil and peaceful for in the heart of Norwich. The roses were beautiful, I was allowed in free as I am disabled and on a mobility scooter and I could drive it all round the gardens with no problems. There was a small restaurant and also tables outside .
