We luckily just stumbled upon a sign on the main road from Kenmare to Glengarriff while cycling the Beara peninsula for the week. Although it took us way off our original route we were so happy to discover this little paradise hidden in the most scenic parts of Ireland. The talented owner Vera was a delight and a true inspiration! I fully intend to return again. Ciara

We have made the decision to close Muckross House, Craft Centre & Garden Restaurant until March 29th in order to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus. We have a social responsibility to our staff, families & customers to do what is right. Stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you when this temporary setback passes. Muckross House, Gardens, and Traditional Farms represent the focal point and nucleus of Killarney National Park. This is Ireland's oldest National Park, and it includes the world famous Lakes of Killarney, as well as the mountains and woodlands that surround them. Muckross and Killarney National Park are open daily all year round (expect the Christmas period). Please refer to website for more details on opening times & prices.
Our guided tour of this historic house lasted just over an hour and was extremely well curated by our witty and informative guide Aoife. We gained a real insight into how the Victorian gentry and servants lived their lives. This location truly is a national treasue.

Dhu Varren Garden provides all the elements of a botanical garden within 2.5acres. Two large landscaped glasshouses provide both subtropical and arid plant displays. Outdoors, landscaped palm and succulent gardens have been created. Alpines, water gardens, herb garden, fernery, yucca avenue and more provide variety. The garden is a wildlife haven for birds and insects. Trees, shrubs and bamboos provide contrast. The centre-piece of a Japanese garden is a koi carp pond with bridge and tea house. Raised decks with seating provide panoramic views of both the garden and the landscape beyond.

Kells Bay House & Gardens is Ireland's premier sub-tropical botanical gardens situated overlooking Dingle Bay on the Ring of Kerry. It is home of the SkyWalk, Ireland's longest rope bridge (112 foot long). Ideal for everyone with over 3 kms of walks and lots of Dinosaurs for the children. We also have 4 star accommodation in the former Hunting Lodge, with our Cafe and our Thai restaurant, Sala Thai, open daily throughout the year (by prior appointment only in January).
Kells is a lovely secluded cove about a mile or two off the Ring of Kerry drive but well worth a visit. If you like a garden that is wild, exotic, wonderful, with unusual species of plants from all over the world, the odd dinosaur here and there, magnificent carvings, a view of Dingle, waterfalls, flowing streams and sky rope Bridge across the trees, all sorts of flora and fauna, this has something for all age-groups. Relish it if you do go there. Wonderful, thank you to Billy and the creative minds that envisaged such a place. Thanks to all who maintain it. Louise

Derreen is a woodland garden that has a selection of narrow paths leading to the sea. You can choose a short stroll of about 40 minutes or take all day discovering the 8 miles of paths. Many of the plants were brought back from the Himalayas by the Victorian plant hunters. There is a cafe selling lunch or a selection of delicious hand made cakes during the summer months.
Great walks, could easily while away some hours and the cafe is really good. Had a coffee and cake post walk - in the September sun - and would gladly return

Myself and our partner did a staycation around Kerry, Glanleam House was our last stop, we stayed one night and I actually wish we stayed here the whole time! We absolutely fell in love with this place, the owners are so lovely and friendly and are great hosts. We stayed in a room with a sea view, and the room was beautiful. It was spotless and the furniture is old it's fabulous, bed was very comfy too. There's no TV in the room but we enjoyed getting away from the real world for a night. This is such a charming place, the children who live here make lovely welcoming signs. We went for a walk around the gardens, they are a bit overgrown but we found that was what made them so amazing, like a jungle, we were amazed. Breakfast in the morning was in a fabulous drawing room, and the pancakes and bacon were just gorgeous! I cannot recommend this place enough for a peaceful getaway, we will most definitely be coming back here. We loved it. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.
