It lies on the Pacific coast, west of the Pampa del Tamarugal which is part of Atacama Desert. It had a population of 180,601 according to the 2012 census. It is also the main commune of the Greater Iquique. The city developed during the heyday of the saltpetre mining in Atacama Desert in the 19th century. Things to do in Iquique
This place has the most incredible food. Spiced fish curry with wonderful spicy full flavour, and chicken nut and date ravioli with a rich cheesy sauce. And dessert a chocolate cake between two layers of chocolate mousse with berry coulis, yum! Quiet, with a slightly nostalgic décor, and jazzy background music. A great find.
Most Popular Peruvian food in Iquique, Tarapaca Region, Chile
We became absolutely obsessed with this place during our trip to Iquique! There are a lot of sushi places about in the town, but this is definitely the best value for money and the best standard. The staff are friendly and the sushi is just fab! A few times we ate in and a few times we took our food away to eat on the beach. Was so yummmmm on all occasions!!
muy buena opción , para comer ricos sushi , todos los dÃas tienen promociones , y una gran variedad de frÃos y calientes, recomendable.

If you're looking for a top-notch meal made with quality ingredients and for a great price, this is the place to go. Benteveo has quickly become a favorite of mine because of their unique menu which is delicious and prepared quickly. They have tea, coffee, and natural juices. They make their own tortillas and bread, which don't disappoint. Aside from the awesome food the house itself is beautiful! The space is so warm and nice and totally different from anything else in Iquique. The owners are incredible people that will make you feel like you're talking to old friends. Thanks to the environment, prices, and delicious food I'll keep going back to Benteveo.

Apart from the fabulous views from Kai Sushi, you also get great food, reasonably priced wine, and attentive service. We had salad, various rolls, and sashimi. It was all incredibly fresh and very tasty. Some of the items seemed a little unconventional (we've never had breaded prawns in a maki roll before) but it worked well. Prices are good. This was much better than some other sushi places we've been to in Iquique.

A spectacular restaurant at the top of Terrado Hotel by Cavancha beach. We have visited it several times during our stay and it always offered great food and very nice and attentive service. As it's one of the highest buildings in the area the view from the top (19th) floor is worth coming anyway.

La Mulata Restaurant, feature in its dishes the great flavors of peruvian cuisine, and NIKKEI style food (peruvian and japanese fusion)
La Mulata is a sea front restaurant that has a great selection of dishes. The service is one of the best Iâve had, kind, quick and happy to help. The place is divided in two areas, a more private area and an area with a view of the beach. Obviously the latter is my recommendation. The prices are good considering plate size, location and overall experience (I actually consider it almost cheap - but lets keep that between us!)The plates are brilliant: textures, flavours and freshness.Iâve been here many times so I really do recommend just about everything, but one thing that I love are the âConchitas con salsa de maracuyaâ, exquisite!A must.

I have been living in Iquique for a while now, but had never heard or seen of Kiru as it is a little out of sight for non-tourists. It's next to a nice hostel and a popular hotel a block from the beach and the actual restaurant is so beautiful and relaxing inside. Most places in Iquique don't have a vibe, but Kiru is great. The waiters are super friendly and attentive, the menu is great and you can't go wrong with any of the seafood. Most dishes are about 10,000-11,000 clp ($16ish), but pretty big portions. The pisco sours are really good and I'll definitely be going back here soon. It's perfect for any type of group, family, couple, friends, etc. There's really a lot of space so you don't feel piled on top of other tables.Dear Caroline, thank you for taking time to write us, we apreciate your comment and we are glad you liked our restaurante, hope to see you soon.Executive Chef, Manuel Etcheverry
