Dinner at the Brasserie Les Trois Rois provided some challenges with the service. After seating us and providing menus and the extensive wine list, I indicated to the maître d' that we wanted to choose the wine and have a glass before ordering the food. This message seemed hard to get across, since he appeared at least three times asking us to order food without any sign of the wine. We persisted. It took quite some time for the wine to arrive and then we ordered from the menus. The waiter that was assigned to us spoke no English whatsoever, so asking for some explanation from the menus proved difficult. While we believe that the waiter thought he was providing good service, it was quite the opposite; he hovered around the table all night. As soon as we took a sip of wine, he refilled the glasses with another sip. At least twelve times! As soon as a plate was finished, it was whisked away. Perhaps the kitchen had run out of crockery? We felt like asking him if would like to pull up a chair and join us rather than hovering over our shoulders all night. This was the closest to an intrusion of privacy we have ever experienced in a restaurant (despite that fact he spoke no English). No peace, no privacy. It totally spoiled the evening. Shades of Fawlty Towers. The food was very good â the veal with kidneys and vegetables was delicious. At least they had a good chef. Pity about the service. And the restaurant was full!Dear GuestThank you for your personal review about your visit at the Brasserie Les Trois Rois during the fair Art Basel, our most busiest time in the year.We sincerely regret that we were unable to meet your expectations and that you were not entirely satisfied with the service provided. From the moment we arrived this was absolutely the best dining experience in many years! Max and Francis cater to their guests with beautifully presented dishes, menus to meet all tastes and delight the palette, a patio setting designed to shelter guests dining outdoors and beautiful shawls as the evening cooled. Their attention to the smallest detail made this dinner with friends a very special night to remember.

I wanted to post this update to give this interesting place it's fair due. Last time we had large business group for dinner and it didn't go so well. The space itself is worth mentioning: beautiful antic tiled stove, modern mural on medieval theme, chandelier...This time it was a dinner for 2 and it was a very positive experience. Our dishes were perfectly executed and seasoned. Service was a bit of an issue at first as the lady did not speak/understood English well. That said once we got through the order taking it was good and attentive. Chef stopped by and checked on us. They offered 2 amuse bouches. Lobster and scallops were amazing however what it was served with I didnât like (tapioca, seaweed and fruit preserve). It was not complementary. My colleagueâs fish was divine.

The place undergone full renovation, only opened two weeks ago. It is splendid. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. Beds are as great as at home, maybe better. Excellent bed linens and blankets. Very nice restaurant, great selection of wines. Great for private dinners and small seminars.

Christmas Day! There were no festive decorations to be found inside the restaurant. No holiday atmosphere. Limited items on the menu. We ate in the gourmet part of the restaurant. Since there was only 2 appetizers on the menu which did not appeal to me, I ordered a mixed salad. Nice presentation and good dressing. Than all 3 of us had the goose breast for the main course. The temperature of the breast was cooked to perfection however it was sliced wrong (with the grain) and you couldn't cut it with a sharp knife. An old piece of chewing gum would have been more tender. It was served the braised red cabbage and some fine grain dumplings. The dumplings were bland. I tried just a very small bit of those item on my plate and did not eat any further. The food was presented well and so were the plates that passed by out tables. We told the service personal right away. They offered to put the meat back in the pan and cook it again. I know as a chef the is not a solution. One of my guests ate dessert (which was offered by the restaurant). The service was professional and attentive. Bathroom were very clean.

I was very confused ââï¸ by the experience and had a hard time formulating my review which I think is the main take away. Atmosphere is beautiful as restaurant located in this gorgeous castle like mansion surrounded by water and you walk across the âdraw bridgeâ to get to it. Dinning room is small but tables are set far apart from each other allowing generous room and space for people to have conversation without listening to their neighbors. We had 3 courses and my friend had soufflé for dessert. 1 course: artichoke soup - very good 2 course: poached lobster - amazing!!!!!! Presentation was stunning and taste incredible 3 course: veal cheek in red wine - not impressive in either taste or presentation and felt like was prepared by a different chef in a lower class of establishment My friendâs soufflé was very disappointing ( too cheesy and eggy)Dear guest Thank you for taking the time for sharing your impressions of your dinner with us. Our Chef de Cuisine Peter Knogl awaits you in the Cheval Blanc with a symphony of aromas, colours and harmonious tastes. Ingeniously prepared from the best nature has to offer us. The team of the Cheval Blanc has earned a place among the 100 best restaura
As you would expect, this 3 Michelin star restaurant is excellent in all respects. The Chef de Cuisine Peter Knogl was in the kitchen and Le Menu of 5 courses (without cheese) at 220 CHF provided some exciting, innovative dishes as follows: Hamachi japonais, ponzu, radish and avocado; langoustine, madras curry and Granny Smith apple; St. Pierre and green beans; Bresse pigeon and Tasmanian pepper; and Champagne, raspberries, mint and kalmansi. The Pigeon was our favourite, but they were all delicious and the presentation superb. The wine suggested was an excellent bottle of local Swiss pinot noir (less than 10km from Basel). The service was very good, perhaps a little understated. Delightful, moderate-sized room in this historic hotel made for a lovely evening.Dear GuestMany thanks for your detailed description and your great feedback of your recent visit at the Cheval Blanc by Peter Knogl. We are delighted to read that with our cuisine, service and wine recommendation, we could create a perfect dinner evening. We hope that this special occasion will remain a long lasting memory for you and look forward to welcoming you back soon.Yours sincerelyTanja WegmannGeneral Manager

I had an outstanding lunch at the top restaurant at Teufelhof. The business lunch was exquisit and the service rendered very forthcoming and warm! Thank you for a great experience!
In addition to staying at the hotel. We also ate at the restaurant and the food was excellent. Marc was the server and his recommendations were excellent. He may perform all the tasks personally and solo in the hotel... sometimes all at once. He is a good guy and a valuable employee of the establishment. I wonder if he also is the cook?
