Namibia's largest coastal town is a huge draw for merrymakers and vacationers from all over the globe. This seaside resort showcases its German origins in its European-style colonial architecture, creating a jarring juxtaposition against the landscape of the Namib desert. Sandboard or motorbike the dunes, dine and imbibe in a picturesque restaurant on the waterfront, or just marvel at the unusual birds and plants that populate the region.

All these rugs and wall hanging are hand woven by local people. Different designs, possibility to visit the weavers and produce for sale at very attractive prices. Possibility of VAT claim at the airport.

Bar Zonder Naam is a stylish, yet cozy little wine and craft beer bar in the heart of Swakopmund. After an exciting day of activities in and around Swakopmund, drop in at Bar Zonder Naam for an ice cold Windhoek Beer, Gin & Tonic, Cocktail or one of our many exquisite Wines. We also serve delicious snack platters and smaller meals to go with the drinks. Ever so often we arrange for some local Talent to play live music to you our esteemed clients and keep you entertained while enjoying the magnificent Namibian Sun Downer that can be viewed from our Terrace. We had a day full of touristy activities in Swakop and went to Bar Zonder Naam for a quick drink. The ambiance was amazing - felt like a quaint europian bar with a lovely setting, great music and friendly staff! Definitely looking forward to going back again.

In my youth the Jetty was a popular place for fishing and making out. Sadly fishing, as most other fun activities in the Dorob park, are Verboten :( During my life it was rebuilt twice and the maintence at the moment is supposedly funded by the restaurant at the head. The restaurant is for people with small appetites and cavernous wallets ;) The restaurant is also not open every day for lunch, as i recently found out. This landmark is a must visit. To stroll up to the head and back clears the mind. Sunsets are stunning.

First of all must get your permit from NWR office, Bismarck street in Swakopmund and self-drive through the desert: lichen fields, moon landscapes, remains of a 19th century war camp, ostriches and the amazing Welwitschias and other desert adapted plants.Interesting experience.

This building caught my eye are we drove thru the downtown streets of Swakopmund. It has been nicely restored to it original grandeur and class. The German architecture is quite detailed right up to the front top roof-line pinnacle. It is buildings like this that bring such charm to the Swakopmund downtown and makes it so fun exploring. BOTTOM LINE: I put this high on my "must see" list when in Swakopmund along with many other old restored buildings. Today it is divided up into condos and not accessible. Worth while even to swing by in your rental car or taxi. Loved it. MY RATING: 9/10.

The Mole - or Landing Pier- is one of the historic landmarks of Swakopmund- built by the Germans when first arriving in Swakopmund during the 1900s. Beautiful to stroll along. Smell the sea!
