Blarney Books and Art

We are a family-friendly bookshop (both new and secondhand) and art gallery. Exhibitions change regularly. We are also the home of the annual book art competition, the Biblio Art Prize. We also host music, performances and book talks - please email us if you have any ideas! We encourage people to come in and spend time browsing, settle on a couch with a book, play a game of chess, give the pianola a go, and we have a great train track set for the kids! Open daily through January. Thus - Mon 11-5 all other times.

Such a beautiful place, every corner has something else to delight your eyes or brain. Enter through a spectacular orange door to a gallery of intriguing artworks regularly updated, then into the bookshop, a converted Masonic hall that makes superb use of light and warm timber colours as well as a rainbow of decorations. Books to satisfy every possible desire and very reasonably priced. Staff friendly and knowledgable. Didn't even mind me playing their piano while my kids perused books and played with the train set.

Griffiths Island

Fabulous walk and diverse views to soak in from sea to inland, rocks to the light house and wild animals if you're lucky. We did the whole round and saw wallabies in the setting sun. Beautiful lighting for time of day to take great photos. Didn't get to see any mutton birds but got to enjoy and sunset.

Pea Soup Beach

Reviewed By Navigator10323724512 - Melbourne, Australia

Pea Soup beach was recommended when we stayed at Port Fairy with a young family. I would say it is ideally suited for children who are not strong swimmers as it is well protected, not deep and from what I observed no rips. That said you still get burnt as my feet did because I forgot to lather them up with sun screen. It is however a small beach with rocks to the far right where the children can look around for sea life. As always even though it seems safe never take your eyes off the children.
