Top 9 Diner food in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, United States

Reviews on Diner food in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, United States. With a long history dating back to before the American Revolution, it's not a surprise that Carlisle is full of historic treasures, including a church once attended by George Washington and a courthouse damaged by artillery during the Civil War. Despite this impressive heritage, the city is most famous for being Pennsylvania's "automotive capital," hosting ten annual car, truck, and motorcycle shows that are attended by a half a million people each year.

Recommended by a friend as a nice place for breakfast. I wasn't disappointed. Ordered the Chipbeef on toast, home fries with gravy on the fries. My waitress "Evon" brought out a small bowl of the Chipbeef gravy for me to sample before ordering. Evon gave me excellent service. Breakfast was delicious, the place was very clean, priced reasonable and nicely done. I personally like Mom and Pop eateries over the chains. This place did not disappoint me. I highly recommend this diner, and will stop there again the next time I'm in Carlisle.

I was traveling with my daughter. We are from the Philadelphia area and like ethnic foods. We wanted Indian food, but the reviews of this "diner" almost put us off. I'm glad we went anyway! This restaurant serves great Indian food! We should have known when we noticed the Indian families eating there. The Tikka Masala and mixed vegetable curry were both delicious. We order medium which was sufficiently hot for us! So if you are concerned about how "spicy " the food is, order it mild. The reviews we saw are obviously from people who are not adventuresome with different ethnic foods. I am sooooo glad there is good Indian food in Carlisle!!!

We just walked out after sitting in a booth awaiting service for 22 minutes. We were not greeted upon entering, no one took our drink order, gave us menus, nothing. This place was by no means near capacity, there were adequate staffing, but just standing around doing nothing. We have stopped here many times before. Management needs changed, staff needs upgraded, policy needs to be followed. Just go someplace else, that good isn't worth waiting for.

This was my first time here to this no frills, classic dive diner. My first introduction was to a terse, unfriendly service hostess, followed by and indifferent young waitress. To my left was a section that had been covered floor to ceiling with plastic when I sat. Later during the meal, they dropped the plastic and it looked like progress was made on the renovation which might be piece by piece. What I liked:- The taste of the crab cakes, haddock filet (not fishy) and scallops on the broiled seafood platter was very good ($18)- The potato soup was hearty and overall very good even though a tad too salty. The portion size was large and cost only $1 as an up-charge to the entrée.- The portion size of the minced coleslaw, and the crispness and cool temperatureWhat I Did Not Like:- The pierogis were deep fried rather than sautéed which downgraded the quality- The two crab cakes while large were mostly filler and the four shrimp very small- The coleslaw was too sweet otherwise it would have been excellent- The side of cucumber salad was way too sweet, so I only picked at it- They serve low budget DVPC ketchup

October, 2018. My wife and I stopped by for lunch. Tracy promptly served a Tuna Salad Sandwich, Tater Tots, and a Meatloaf Sandwich. Delicious! As the Germans say in Heidelberg, "Mittagessen war lecker!" Lunch was tasty! Good food and prompt service.Danke, thank you!

Breakfast here was just great. Great service and food. Eggs Benedict breakfast was excellent even though egg appeared fried vice poached; Eggs cooked perfectly no matter how! Olde world omelette was a little browned on the outside but otherwise good. We will return. BTW get the extra onions in the home fries.

Here for dinner with several camping friends. Most everyone ordered something different so we got to see and hear about many menu items. The "seafood" platter was a joke...poor quality frozen "stuff. Calimari (over-cooked and rubbery) wasn't even mentioned but was on the plate instead of clams. Three of us didn't event try to finish the plate - We are from the Chesapeake bay area and this isn't "seafood". Pork chops were large and tasty. Chicken fried steak was acceptable. I had Prime rib - a large cut , cooked as ordered, could have used more spices/rub. Sides - many were offered - "pepper Cabbage", a surprise of green pepper and cabbage in a blah brine juice. Broccoli and cheese - ok, but swimming in warm water.Service was fast and friendly, waitress very polite and accommodating. Had to argue with the manager to get the "price" shown on the "specials" board in the lobby. You can do better elsewhere!

This feels like a diner but better. The service is friendly and efficient and the food is good. They serve some typical diner food but at better quality. The gyro platter is very filling. The most unique item is the hotchee dog. I remember eating something similar in northern NJ but nothing like it around here. Its a grilled hot dog with chili onions and mustard, you can get cheese as an option but I usually skip it. Tastes much better than the pretty common description might imply. IMPORTANT NOTE: Restaurant is CASH ONLY.
