We stayed at Savegre Hotel, so we had many opportunities to eat at their Las Bromelias restaurant. The meals were served buffet style and were made with high quality, fresh ingredients. Breakfast options included things like scrambled eggs, sausage, delicious fresh pineapple and other fruit, gallo pinto, plantains, potato cakes, and a nice selection of fresh juices like blackberry and passion fruit. Lunch and dinner offered hot entree choices like roast pork in fig sauce, fresh trout, and beef with black peppercorn sauce with side items like rice, yucca, sauteed veggies, and salads. We even had Thai style pork one night that was delicious. There was always a nice variety of desserts on the dessert table as well, everything from little pastries to coconut cake and ice cream. All of the food was very good and more sophisticated than what we were expecting. There are also several hummingbird feeders right outside the restaurant that attract a number of species. We got some nice photos there. If you're staying at the hotel, I would recommend getting the meal plan, but if you're just in the area, it's worth stopping into Las Bromelias for a good meal.

Family owned and run cabins and restaurant was our lunch stop on our return to SanJose after touring for three weeks. The views are delightful from the deck with hummers feeding close y and valley and mountains in the distance. Restaurant mid simple and very satisfying. We had an unusually warm day in early May and loved sitting out in the deck. Well worth a stop if you need a break from driving.

First of all note there are 2 Chespiritos. If you started your trip from San Jose make sure to stop at the second one. It has better quality food. The first doesn't look too clean. It's already prepared typical costarican dishes served in a buffet style way. Except you don't serve yourself you tell the persona behind the counter what you want and they serve it, microwave it and all set.Don't expect top of the notch food or presentation. But it's a typical stop for a warm "aguadulce" and some "gallos" and let's be honest... it is better than a burger and fries.

We had lunch here and my smoked trout dip was fantastic! Two people had black bean soup which had lots of additions but the soup was a little weak. Another person had caprice salad and it was delicious. Only strange thing is they would not sell wine by the bottle but only by the glass even though they pour it from a bottle.

We were going horseriding at the stables nearby and wanted a light lunch. The Soda Dona Marlen was just what we were looking for. They prepared excellent freshly made sandwiches along with a portion of french fries if required along with coffee and/or soft drinks. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. They also took credit cards. Highly recommended.

We are located in a privileged area of ââCosta Rica, San Gerardo de Dota. We are surrounded by a dense vegetation added to this a large amount of fauna, including the Quetzal. Botanical garden available to our customers.
Tasty local food especially trout served many ways, friendly and efficient service and good value too. The botanical garden 5 minutes walk away is a real bonus, being well laid out with good plant labelling and the entrance fee included for diners. Allow around an hour at the garden to appreciate the tranquillity. Both the garden and restaurant are very convenient for the Rio Savegre waterfall hike.

If you are lucky enough to visit this remote and enchanted valley make time to have a meal at this special restaurant. Recently opened in a new space with picture windows we were immersed in the beauty of the Savegre River valley while feasting our eyes and noses and mouths on gourmet food. The Chef is a recent graduate from culinary school in San Jose and appears to have been the top student. The dishes are beautiful and flavors are spiked with fresh herbs from the garden. In this Valley you can relax, see Quetzals and eat reasonably priced fabulous food too. Thank you Alma de Ãrbol.

This is the breakfast place for guests who are staying at their cabins. Breakfast is typical Costa Rican fare. This is the go to place for birdwatcher groups coming from other areas. We also had one dinner the first night when we came back late after hiking. We ordered trout and we enjoyed the meal. There is a bird feeder at the back of the restaurant where you can see a lot of colourful birds.muchas gracias, por su visita gracias
