Reviews on Central European food in Szekesfehervar, Central Transdanubia, Hungary. The city of Székesfehérvár, known colloquially as Fehérvár ("white castle") (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈseːkɛʃfɛheːrvaːr] ( listen), located in central Hungary, is the ninth largest city of the country; regional capital of Central Transdanubia; and the centre of Fejér county and Székesfehérvár District. The area is an important rail and road junction between Lake Balaton and Lake Velence.

Staff very friendly. Had to get a fast breakfast raised late. So ate breakfast a poppyseed strudel like thing and cappuccino to go while waiting in line for my sightseeing bus. Great selection of pastry. Needed more time in pest to eat all those goodies.

Working in town with a big group of colleagues so needed somewhere that could cope with nearly 30 people.Rang around and here wasn't phased.Lovely meals for all, group platters were awesome as were the salads.Loads of choice, fresh food and cold beer.Only let down was the restaurant was very hot, need to invest in Air Con when the weather is over 40degrees
Lavender-inspired Mediterranean cafe and pastry shop, just treats!
A family run French-styled cafe with breakfast, bakery items, coffees, ice creams, Hungarian beer specialties and lots of yummy cakes (for the lactose/paleo/gluten dieters too). Cool music is always on to set the ambiance. They have a small garden too where one can enjoy a snack and coffee while the children can play around.Open every day till 8pm. Prices are reasonable, less then in the city.

This is a cosy, warm restaurant that serves generous portions of well made, hearty hungarian food. I had chicken broth with noodles (husleves - 1000ft) and pancakes filled with meat (hortobagyi palacsinta - around 1300 ft), both were tasty and more than enough for a meal. But what impressed me the most was the service: extremely quick, efficient and polite. All the members of the staff were very professional, they made us feel very welcome. I would gladly return here.At the moment of our visit there were no kids in the restaurant, but they have lots of seats for toddlers, so it is probably a kid friendly place too :)

Highly recommended restaurant with tasty, traditional European food. Really large portions with affordable prices. The staff are friendly, and the place is suitable for families. My only complaint would be, that unfortunately smoking is allowed at the outside tables, which could ruin your summer time lunch or dinner.

The atmosphere and the interieur was calm and nice. Not too many people around but the food was nice with a touch of exclusive creativity. It is well suited for business meetings as well as romantic dates for people preferring less noise, livelyhood and privacy.

Had a positive experience where the food is concerned but be aware that drinks are priced in a deceptive way. This is not the only restaurant in Hungary we've come across that practices this to be fair though. Basically the prices indicated are per 'dl' and they appear to be reasonable. I now know however that 'dl' means 10cl. Nobody actually has a drink that small so the actual price, of a glass of wine for example, is double the advertised price. Believe me after a couple of drinks over dinner your bill ends up very different to what you expect it to be. In our case HUF4000 more than we'd anticipated. I would much rather the restaurant published the cost of a real drink in the first place. That way you can at least make an informed decision.

We went for a dinner. It was our last stop on our vacation.I assume it offers all time classics of regional cuisine but with modern touch. My wife went for chicken steak in cornflakes batter coating and I went for beaf brisket in creamy vegetable sauce with bread dumplings. The result perfectly matched our expectations. It was really good. Pairing with some good pinot noir from local producer, it was even better. The service was very polite and attentive. The restaurant looks kind of pompous yet, the prices are very reasonable for such experience..
