Stayed here for just one night, but found the room to be very cosy and clean. The guest house is very old (1628 I think the manager said) and has a few period features. The bar is very welcoming, good beer. Staff are great. Breakfast is excellent-proper German stuff with breads, meats, cheese and freshly boiled eggs laid out on your table, rather than the usual buffet. Very reasonable price for a guesthouse right in the centre of the old town. Only downside is that it's very hard to get to with a car-no map on the website, I got within a couple of hundred metres and parked in the public car park and walked the rest of the way.

When booking the place we have been told that it is no problem to come and table would be available. Once we arrived, we found that the restaurant was packed and had only one person available for the entire restaurant. This person was supposed to take orders for take away meals; in house service as well as serving drinks and meals. After 20 minutes waiting time we still were unable to place any order .

I always find a great restaurant in a small town in Germany and this is one of them. I just had a main and a dessert, a Wiener Schnitzel (22.00 Euro) and Kaiserschmarrn (10.00 Euro) which was enough for three. My friend had a Lammhaxe(22.00 Euro). Since I wasnât driving, I had a glass of Grauburgunder(6.00 Euro) which was delicious. The service personnel was friendly and knowledgeable. Everybody knew what he or she had to do.The atmosphere is also very nice.I might go back for white asparagus.

This place is a traditional bauhaus in German style. Don't expect anything fancy please. Good is mass produced and not refined, is however really good. The beer is home brewed and really good. We also stayed at the hotel which is clean and reasonably priced. Gummersbach on the other hand is a pace where there is absolutely no atmosphere. I stayed at the place to do some hiking but besides the really nice nature there is really noting to do.

A must for those who love getting away from the hustle and bustle of daily routine. Excellent food, especially the regional "Bergischer Spezialitaeten"also the home made cakes. This restaurant also has a small hotel run by friendly Mike and his mother. Idyllically situated amongst greenery and a soothing brook. When weather permits eating outside is great to spend time leasurely eating, and listening to the rumbling brook and the birds chirping.I have frequented this place since 30 years and it is always a pleasure coming back to acquaintances .p.s very nicely decorated rooms with views onto the brook.

On a rainy Friday evening we were on our route to a hotel near Gummersbach in the Bergisches Land, east of Köln. Between the Autobahn A45 and Gummersbach we found by incident this very nice restaurant Pot au Feu. Opposite het regional airport. The interior is 110% German. The landlady herself served the tables. Very adequate, friendly, customer focus. The food is mainly traditionally German but also with some nice vegetarian choices and often rösti. The food is perfectly prepared, including hot dishes and a special knife for my Schweinenackensteak. The Gorgonzola on top of it was as it should be: not too much but delicious. Very recommendable restaurant.
