Eating meals on the north shore can be a challenging sport. There are so many derelict places that you pass that it sometimes feels like an outtake from Bladerunner. Marathon is one of the bleaker spots for dining and a trip through town yielded no candidates for a lunch stop. Back on the highway, we saw Marino's and stopped there. The soup was very tasty and clearly home made with large numbers of fresh vegetables. The second trip emboldened us to also order onion rings. They were certainly tasty, piping hot and a bit greasy, but good in a lot of ways. The problem was there were so many that two of us struggled to finish them. Thank goodness we only got one order or we would still be there! The service is friendly, and there is plenty of good parking. Give the town a miss and stick to the highway for a decent meal at Marino's. There were a few truckers there and they are pretty good at figuring out the places to have a value meal. Come to think of it, the truckers would have made short work of the pile of onion rings.
100.00 a night. Highway robbery. Light thru the door all the way around. Newer TV. Coffee machine. Ancient and stained carpet. We are travelling in our RV. No where to camp at this time of year and was getting late. Never ate breakfast. Young man at the desk was highlight. Very friendly and helpful. Bed was not that comfortable. Old bedding. Towels were a little ragged and felt like cardboard. Enough said. I would not stay here again unless some work done to improve.
Home is currently the Wilderness North McKenzie Lake float plane base just out of Armstrong. Where we work long hard days - so for my birthday we decided to treat the crew. We got 4 enormous pizzas to go for $100. All the different flavours came loaded with generous toppings. On the way home we were stopped by the worlds longest train. But still the pizzas were delicious. We even had one left over the next day for crew lunch. Since May Iâve recommended the people who stay at our guest lodge go into Armstrong to eat at Gailâs. Local knowledge:On Tuesday nights they have a darts competition and the atmosphere is fun.

This A&W Restaurant had terrible service....It took forever to get your order as well as to find someone to place an order:( The tables were all dirty from previous customers dishes & not wiped down either!! Won't come here again on my way through Marathon again:((

Food was good and service was excellent. Enjoyed the coffee and the salad they prepared. Atmosphere is also nice and quiet.
Good food and excellent service. The staff was extremely friendly. The menu is the standard A & W, but they also serve chicken. Well worth getting off the highway for. BTW, make sure you try the onion rings -- homemade and fabulous!
Haven't had Pizza Hut is awhile so we gave it a go. The server was was very very nice, I don't think she was busy so our food came very fast. The pizza was good, not great but it's Pizza Hut, that being said, we found the pizza extremely greasy. Wasn't the most enjoyable pizzas I've had. It was also probably one of the most expensive pizzas we have had. I don't understand why Pizza Hut is so expensive. I personally feel it's way overpriced.

Hope this keeps going. There is no liquor license, but we really didnât care. The food was great and quick. The server was running off her feet to cover everyone, but she did it and was very nice. Itâs priced as expected for the tourist season. Itâs the best place in town,

Stopped in here for ice cream but decided to stay and have a meal (along with the ice cream of course!). Decor is pretty basic but there's a good choice of wraps, etc. I had the quesadilla which was a good size and very tasty. There are a number of desserts to choice from. All looked pretty tasty but we chose not to indulge. A good spot if you're looking for a light meal. We were hungry after hiking so had an early dinner. They closed at 6 PM on a Saturday in mid-August. Not sure what their hours are otherwise.
