Cafe Blue was my morning "go-to" for breakfast - I made my own favorite coffee in the room, but went over to this off-the-lobby restaurant for several breakfast items during my stay - and all were delicious. Some of the menu items were toasted bagels, egg sandwiches and other options, and for lunch they have several great sandwiches (the ham & cheese was a favorite here!). Fast & friendly, you can enjoy your food in the restaurant, or get it to go if you're in a hurry (or just want to relax in your room). They use a Turbochef oven to prepare much of the fare here, it does toasting in a quick minute, so while your coffee is being prepared, the food is being cooked and you will be out the door very quickly! Relatively inexpensive for all the delicious options I tried & of course, the atmosphere is laid back & friendly like the rest of this amazing resort hotel! Thank you! Tomasito
I had a place around the corner from this shop. I really like the fact that if you can get your coffee in a REAL cup and sit in a comfortable tall back chair, at a table, and enjoy your coffee while reading a book or paper. It is what a coffee house should be. The coffee is very good and the menu is good. It is also ideal for grab and go. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Best of all, there is a guy in VW covered in stickers and adorned with some sort of antlers that frequents this location.

Wow, this place knows how to do breakfast. We ate their pre-Spartan Beast race and were able to get healthy options (oatmeal, whole wheat, etc.). In addition, they have great fresh baked cinnamon roles, eggs/bacon, etc. Also, have a nice lunch menu and great indoor seating area. Service is great!
The turkey melt was excellent! The winter salad was fresh and delicious. The fries are the best ever, especially the sweet potato fries. My friend had the meat Panini with a side of fries and thoroughly enjoyed it as well.I only gave it a very good, vs excellent, because their baked goods for dessert leave a lot to be desired. They use to have the BEST cookies and muffins ever.NOTE: Winter hours they are only open 11-3 daily

Felt like eating some froyo on our way back to Sacramento from our camping trip, and so googled places along our route. Found this one, and stopped in. They had several flavors to choose from and they were fairly good. One of the workers said hi but went back to his conversation with a friend, which he engaged in the entire time we were there. The price were outrageous! Truckee just isn't a must see tourist destination, and the prices in Sacramento, 44 cents/ounce and even in Ashland, Oregon, a much more touristy town, at 49 cents/ounce, make this exorbitant price rather ridiculous. Not sure why, but not sure it will last long either. Looking for a sweet cold treat, go somewhere else in Truckee.

We were curious to check out the historic district of Truckee and came across this very casual and reasonably priced restaurant. Our waitress must have sensed that we were very hungry because she not only took our orders but pointed out a near by table with about 10 people who she had seated before us and said she needed to get our requests to the kitchen first, to insure that we would be served first! Sure enough, our waitress took our orders for our salads and within minutes our delicious meals arrived and only then did I see the waitress taking the orders of the larger group. The prices of their menu and the quality of the food was great!

The cafe is small and can get very busy during breakfast hours. We arrived here about 10:30 a.m. on a Wednesday, and there was a fifteen minute wait to get a table. There are seats and a self-serve coffee station on the boardwalk outside the restaurant, so the wait wasn't unpleasant. The owner was on site during our visit. The staff members were friendly. The dining room is quite small and the tables are set close together. It was noisy when we first arrived, but cleared out a bit while we were there which reduced the noise level. There is only a single restroom, and no good place to stand while waiting your turn in line, so that was a little inconvenient. You can order off their breakfast or lunch menu at any time during the day. The breakfast entrees that we saw coming out of the kitchen (breakfast burritos, corned beef hash with a potato cake) all looked good. We opted to order lunch. I got a veggie hoagie served warm, and my husband ordered a C.B.L.T.A. which also came on a hoagie roll. The bread was from Truckee Sourdough bakery. My husband ordered potato salad with his sandwich. I ordered the kettle chips. He liked the flavor of the potato salad -- which was topped with bits of French fried onion straw -- but thought they used a little too much mayo in the recipe. My chips were a disappointment. I'd assumed they be house made. Instead, I was presented with a small bag of Lay's Potato Chips. And the weren't even Lay's kettle chips. My sandwich was tasty. A little messy, but good food and just the right amount. My husband said that the chicken on his sandwich was sort of dry, but the other ingredients made the overall sandwich moist enough to be palatable. Our food came out quickly after we placed our order. I had iced tea with my meal. It was freshly brewed and refreshing. At the end of the meal, the waitress presented our check and informed us that she'd inadvertently given our tab to a couple who had been dining at an adjacent table. They paid without looking closely at it and left. So the waitress gave us their bill. She tried to put a positive spin on this by letting us know that their tab was less than ours. So we got a bargain. Still, this wasn't an impressive end to our experience here. Nevertheless, we would eat here again as there are other menu items we are interesting in trying.
