My first time here (although my wife has been before with her shopping buddies). We called in for lunch after an 'exhausting' shopping expedition and I was immediately struck by the quirky nature of the surroundings....loved it ! I ordered the mac'n'cheese and it did not disappoint....creamy, cheesy, cooked perfectly....and filling! The service was excellent (including the owner) apart from a dead-eyed blonde who didn't seem to care whether we ordered anything or not. However, this is a place I would return to any time !

Knitsley Farm Shop Cafe and Granary Cafe

A cosy and inviting Cafe/Restaurant adjacent to a wonderful farm shop, situated on a working farm along a private drive. Beautiful courtyard exterior with external dining in pleasant weather. Full waitress service by our warm and friendly staff. All food

We visited the Farm Shop and Granary Cafe on Saturday 17/08 after being recommended by some friends. We called in for breakfast; I had eggs benedict and my husband had the full breakfast, both meals were excellent. We were shown to a table by i assume the manageress, very dark hair and high heels on. She was very welcoming and quickly took a drinks order while we were looking at the menu. The food as I mentioned was tasty and reasonably priced, we later purchased some of the homemade sausages from the butchers counter. Here we were served by a tall man wearing glasses who was very friendly and knowledgable, a credit to your team, he explained all the sausages are made on site which is quite the feat! We also went on to buy a selection of the various pork pies on offer, this time served by a petite blonde lady who again was very courteous and pleasant, she patiently explained the differences between the pies (so many to choose from!). We concluded our tour of the shop by selecting a giant snowball and a slice of Guinness cake from a young dark haired lady at the cake counter, she seemed very happy to be at work which is refreshing to see, especially on a sunny Saturday! Finally we were served at the till by a lady with very long dark hair wearing glasses, she too was a credit to your business. Very pleasant and mentioned the Guinness cake is one of her favourites and she hoped we enjoyed it. You may notice I have gone to great lengths to describe the staff we encountered in the hope that they may receive the recognition they deserve. Too often people are quick to comment on things they may find unfavourable, without considering the bigger picture. Myself and my husband truly enjoyed our visit to Knitsley and can not wait to return. The staff are a true testament to the way a small family run business can last a lifetime if it has the right people behind it. Thank you.Thank you so much for the fantastic review - but more than that a huge thank you for taking the time to personally note the staff that you interacted with during your visit, it means a huge amount to both them and ourselves. From your detailed descriptions I can name the staff that served you and have personally thanked them for their continued fantastic efforts in customer service and they have been very buoyed by your review. It is all to easy in this day and age to moan about the slightest aspect and forget that staff are human and small/family businesses have huge daily hurdles to face, but we know that our staff delivery great service and a review of this nature is fantastic recognition of that. No one is perfect, we can all have a moment where we're not on top form, but 3 of the staff you mentioned have been with us for over 9 years, and the other 2 for around 3 years, and this review is a great testament to not only them but the team as a whole. As a small family business we have grown over the past 11 years from employing 5 staff in 2008 to 45 local people - a fact we are hugely proud of and we thank each and every member of the team from production to front of house - so thank you again for direct recognition for them, and we look forward to welcoming you again soon.

We had a warm welcome on entering the old school house, yes we only called in for coffee and cake but oh what cake! The selection of cakes was extensive and coffee was tasty, a warm pleasant atmosphere, the surroundings were unique. The chocolate and cherry gateau with meringue and cream layers was yum. As we were staying in Wolsingham, we felt we should try the local cafes. This is by far the best. With a bakery attached, it really is a village experience. The display of scrumptious cakes, pies and bread is excellent. We tried the Cornish style pasties and returned to take some home! Lots of locals can be found there which is always an indication of quality. The coffee is good and competively priced. The service is very friendly. We spoke to the owner who gave us some good tips on local attractions. We will return for more pasties!!!

Came with my wife and 15week old daughter for an early breakfast. We were greeted through the door and the staff immediately made sure we had space and my daughter was comfortable. We enjoyed a lovely sausage and egg sandwich, coffee and a scone with jam and cream and coffee. The food and coffee were perfect and the staff were lovely and made a real fuss of my daughter making sure we had everything she needed. I cannot recommend number 10 cafe enough for the food, service and family friendliness.

In a remote setting and takes a bit of effort to get there on a bike but many do.There is a bike rack outside. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and efficient.A good selection of meals, cakes, scones, sarnies, toasties and even Sunday lunches. The best bit for me is that it is so rare and pleasantly surprising to be given butter at room temperature that you can spread rather something that beats diamond on the hardness scale.I will be back.

We fancied a trip out and a spot of lunch and the Durham Dales Tea Room, hit the spot. The car park and surroundings were full of pretty spring flowers. We did notice that parking is now restricted to a maximum of 4 hours, though that is really more than long enough. The tea room menu does appear to be more restrictive than it used to be but it is probably better to stick to a small selection of proven best sellers, than have a large selection of food which might not get used. As long as they have those delicious pies on the menu it suits me. As ever, the freshly made food was excellent. Light, crisp pastry and a deep filling of succulent, tender steak, creamy potatoes and 4 vegetables, plus gravy boat. All washed down with a nice pot of tea. We also bought a couple of scones to take home. It's a day out for us so providing standards don't slip, we'll keep coming back but we only go now and then. I can understand locals, who might want to get a reasonable lunch every day, without breaking the bank, would find the present menu very restrictive. Some of the centre's shops have changed and some units are empty. Whether this is due to a lack of trade or commercial expenses being too great, I do not know but it would be a pity to see the demise of this place.

Good coffee in a great location which is located on a popular bike road which can take you to west towards Hartside and the lakes, or south west towards Middleton-In-Teasdale and Yorkshire. The owner is also an ex isle of man TT racer, who also runs a business which sets up motorbike suspension. This is motorbike setup is also recommended.
