San Pedro La Laguna (Spanish pronunciation: [sam ˈpeðɾo la laˈɣuna]) is a Guatemalan town on the southwest shore of Lake Atitlán. For centuries, San Pedro La Laguna has been inhabited by the Tz'utujil people, and in recent years it has also become a tourist destination for its Spanish language schools, night life, and proximity to the lake and volcanos.
Things to do in San Pedro La Laguna
This place had by far the worst food I had throughout Guatemala. A large group of us visited and we all felt cheated. I tried their ceviche and could not find any shrimp in it. It was tasteless and hardly had any meat. Others complained about the bland food and it appears that anything meat or fish related must be scarce in this restaurant. All of our plates hardly had any meats in them. The tacos were ridiculous with more onions and pepper and hardly any meat. It just seemed strange that the restaurant had a mixture of different cuisines (Guatemalan, Mexican, American?). Ironically the best tasting dish was the pizza which you wouldnât expect in a place where you are looking for local cuisine. Do yourself a favor a keep walking for better options. Even the Tuc-Tuc drivers warned us about better dining options up the hill and we should have believed them. Prices were also higher compared to Panajachel.

Breakfast at Gloria's (main cook and owner) is an amazing treat I wish I could do way more often! It's a beautiful little place with great coffee, smiling pleasant staff and the best honey pancakes, fried eggs and "mosh with bananas" I have ever had!!! If you ever find yourself on breath-taking Lake Atitaln, take the time to visit Gloria for simple and delicious food you will not forget! I wish I was there right now!!!

Ate breakfast here before volcano trip. Opens really early! Ordered a veg omelet which is probably the best I've ever had! Cooked perfectly and all the veg tasted very fresh. Coffee was also pretty good. Really wished I had gone back here another day instead of trying somewhere different which was far below standard.

The food was plentiful and very good for only 30Q. I had the veggie omelet and it came with additional sauteed veggies and a little bit of beans and toast with jam. Everything tasted "very good". The restaurant opens at 8:00 which is nice, but they were washing the floor with chlorox at 8:15, so everything kind of tasted like the smell of bleach. Lots of flies, but I guess I should expect that with outdoor seating, but, more flies than other outdoor Guatemala restaurants that I have been to. It is a great cause and the school does support good projects. The service was GREAT. I would go again, but later in the day.

Nice place. Good Service. Clean. We offer hotel and dorms.
Don't believe any of their advertising signs out front for happy hour or drunk specials because you're probably being baited. We went here for a beer because they were advertising Victoria beer on a sign right outside their door for 9Q each. No fine print or asterisks or anything. We then go to pay and they were like 14Q each. Not a huge difference, but we were in a budget. We pointed out the error and were told the special was for the smaller Victoria beers, which I had never seen once in my 3 weeks in Guatemala (and after drinking lots of beer there), and which the server here never even offered us. The sign was very misleading. That's the only reason we even stopped there was because of their sign advertising 9Q Victorias. Be very skeptical of any special they advertise and ask many questions.

You can absolutely count on the Italian brothers, Luca and Marcos, to fix you up a nice casual eating experience in their garden cafe. Aside from the croissants and espresso drinks, they serve a nice selection of European, American, and local Guatemalan breakfasts. They also serve great pastas for lunch. If you go for lunch on Monday, you will likely be entertained by a fabulous samba band. There are different musicians playing on some other days. And....by the way, you can also go to use their computer or printer, and purchase moves and tv shows from their huge library. Very nice locals work here as well. You can also purchase the incredible French bread and pastries to go. Thereâs no reason not to come here if youâre gonna spend any time in San Pedro.
