Named from the anglicized form of the Hebrew word "shalom," meaning peace, Salem provides visitors with exactly that - plus a horde of historic sites to explore and plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Oregon's capital, one of the oldest cities in the state, exudes simple, small-town hospitality with just enough politics and culture to keep things interesting. Tour the grand, gold-domed State Capitol to learn about the workings of the government, then head to the observation deck for a fantastic view of Salem and its surrounding area. Although the whole city is a living history lesson, brimming with old buildings and landmarks, the Mill Mission Museum is a definite standout. Art buffs should not miss the impressive Pacific Northwest collection at the Hallie Ford Art Museum. In between sights, take time to people watch or picnic at Bush's Pasture Park, or enjoy wine tasting at some of the local vineyards. Salem's idyllic setting, in the heart of the emerald Willamette Valley, coupled with its historic role as political hub for Oregon make it the perfect choice for a delightful and interesting weekend away.

I usually order some of the Black Sheep food at the next door Santiam Brewery. The food is always delicious and always reasonably priced .They do the regular burgers, chilli and nachos but also thankfully a couple of great salads. I love their Greek Salad in particular..helps keep the carbs down so i can ave a couple ales!Nice people, great food.Ah, shucks, you're making us blush! We're very proud of our salad offerings & are happy to hear that our customers love them just as much as we do. If you haven't been by in the last couple weeks, stop on over! We added a couple new salads to our pub menu to liven things up a bit (but, of course, we do still have our Greek as well as the Oregon Harvest, another favorite!) Thanks for the feedback, we look forward to hearing your take on some of new items! :)

My fried eggs were dead on medium just as I ordered, the sourdough toast was toasted perfectly, and the bacon and hashbrowns were both delicious and plentiful. All the food had that substantial "diner" feel to it without being overly greasy. The coffee is really good too, although I wish they had real cream instead of Coffeemate. Service is fast and friendly. The Ritz is small but mighty!

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The presentation was beautiful. Loved the round bread for grilled cheese. Onion rings were nice. Saw French Toast go by and it looked amazing with strawberries and whipped cream atop. The place is very popular. Would definitely stop again.

We had Little Lois bring in lunches for work and it turned out perfect! It's a great concept that allowed everyone to order exactly what they wanted. All you do is set-up the event, each person goes online to enter their order and the food shows up in a sealed tray with exactly what you ordered. This was the first time I had done training without someone complaining about the food....nice!

My girlfriend and I visit Acme often. We have sampled all three meal items. The pancakes are very good, the shrimp basket is yummy but their chili is among the best I've ever had. The staff is warm and welcoming. The full bar is very good. The best is their desserts, including the house made ice cream. Definitely worth checking out.

Some weeks ago my friend were trying to think of a new exciting lunch and we decided to have breakfast (for lunch) instead. We went to Patty's and were not disappointed - very tasty, well prepared meals and quick pleasant service to boot. My corn beef hash was delicious. I haven't been back yet, but there are several other things on the menu that I'd just love to try. PS: My friend was very impressed with the biscuits, which they make right there

Breakfast and lunch restaurant. Mainly famous for breakfast. Also a catering service, but they have a public, very popular restaurant.
We start every weekend with Saturday breakfast at the Sassy Onion. The french toast is excellent and the omelettes are generous. It can be a little busy but it is always worth the wait. The staff is friendly and the food is excellent.
