Things to do in Carrickfergus
After a visit to the castle nearby, we wandered the little town center looking for lunch. We passed a bakery with wedding cakes displayed in the window. All of a sudden our noses kicked in and we backtracked. In the back of the bakery is a cafe that serves breakfast all day and hearty lunches. The prices are very reasonable. The food is good. The people are great. During our stay in Belfast we went back twice more!

Husband and I had lunch here on Thur. Ordered toastie, to come with salad and coleslaw. Long wait, when eventually food did arrive no coleslaw, when I asked they said they had none!! they were sending a member of staff out for some. yes you guessed it. Coleslaw arrived.after I finished. Staff could not understand me when I asked for a cup and they gave me a mug.Do young people not understand the difference between a cup and a mug. Obviously some training needed there.

I was very impressed with their pages and pages of menus, plus a lengthy specials board. Today's specials included chicken Maryland, or cod bites, and with a free sponge cake thrown in. Instead of either I was tempted by their chicken in sweet chilli sauce open sandwich with side salad. It was great. The side salad included bits of boiled egg, a little bowl of cole slaw, another of grated cheese, lots of stuff. There was plenty of chicken, and two pieces of bread. Six pounds something. Great light and space in here. Some couches, some tables, big seating area with acres of room for buggies, prams or wheelchairs. No steps anywhere, automatic doors. You take a table and they come to bring you menus, and take your order. The building also houses the very good town museum, a room with loads of local historical photos, and exhibition rooms. Dropped in to a show in one by Quadart afterwards, some very colourful paintings. The exhibitions and museum are free to enter.

Didn't even know this place existed until it popped up on Groupon and boy was I glad I bought the voucher. The place is clean presentable and well set out. The staff were friendly and answered all of my questions without fuss and hesitation. Best of all the large fry was exactly that and worth every penny of the voucher. We will definitely be back and hopefully sooner rather than later. DELICIOUS.
Recommended by a slimming world friend ... I visited with my wife one morning early at the beginning of July 2016 ... We both had a fry and a mug of tea each and we're delighted with the service and food ... Really great visit and we will return again for another fry and a chat with the lady and gentleman that run the cafe ( very nice folk indeed ) ... We would recommend to all readers ... Please give it a try and I promise you will not be disappointed by the food and the cost of the experience !

From reading some reviews I expected much better from Ollies. Unfortunately our food didn't quite 'hit the spot' and left us a little underwhelmed, especially for the price we paid. Can't however fault the staff who seemed quite friendly.

Even though it was stifling hot the service was excellent, friendly and professional. I would recommend the Chicken Caesar Salad, absolutely gorgeous. The jumbo deli sandwich was also filling and reasonably priced as well. Go here quite often so pleasure to give such appositive review. Well done!
