Canada's capital is a compact, clean, cleverly planned center of culture and politics and a destination for every season. Start downtown at the architecturally stunning National Gallery of Canada, and don't miss the Canadian Museum of Nature and the Canada Aviation and Space Museum. Rideau Canal offers boating in the summer and turns into the world’s largest skating rink when frozen in the winter. Gatineau Park attracts cyclists and walkers, while Byward Market blends old and new Ottawa.

Rideau Inn, A charming Edwardian home, circa 1916, in the heart of the capital, has operated since late 90's last century providing comfortable, clean and economical accommodations in elegant surroundings at a superb location close to all downtown Ottawa has to offer. We are situated in the leafy residential neighbourhood known as the "Golden Triangle" bound by lively Elgin Street. And a bend in the Rideau Canal. It's just a short walk from the numerous fine restaurants, cafes, bars and nightclubs found on nearby Elgin Street. Museum of Nature is in a few minutes walk away. Parliament Hill, National Gallery, National Arts Centre, Rideau Centre shopping Mall, Byward market, Ottawa University and many more exciting hot spots in walking distance. Returning guests may happy to see the changes and upgrades that have been done recently.
My fiance and I wanted to visit ottawa and found this place last minute. The location was near a skate rental shop, the canal rideau, the nature museum and near plenty of dining options and bars. The house is a heritage home so it's definitely old, but in an authentic way. The check-in process was very efficient and the host was informative and very nice! (Lindsay was her name) our room was clean. The washrooms are shared but kept VERY tidy. The kitchen downstairs was awesome - stocked with breakfast items, coffee, tea, juice, etc. I think that for the money, this is a good deal. Only thing.... the noise from the creaking wood floors. Bring headphones or earbuds and you will be just fine.

Victorian Inn built in 1886, located within walking distance of the ByWard Market, The National Gallery, NAC, the Mint, Ottawa University and much more. Abundant in Victorian charm with all of today's amenities. Historic home of John McGee (member of the Privy Council) and his son Frank McGee (famous hockey player featured on TSN) Full breakfast is included with your stay.
We stayed here for 3 nts for our anniversary Sept. 2021. Overall, it was not what we expected in a '5 star' bed & breakfast. The beds are awful and we did not get the personalized experience we expected from a B&B. We chose to stay at a B & B instead of a big chain hotel because we were looking for a more intimate, personal experience. This was our first romantic weekend away since Covid and we ended up feeling like it was just okay - definitely not special. McGee's is really just a mini version of a Days Inn (with less comfortable beds). We're still not sure if we actually met any of the 'hosts' (owners) during our stay. We encountered 4 different individuals during our 3 nt stay each who presented as staff as opposed to someone with a vested interest in the business. None of them seemed to know or acknowledge the multi-night guests (of which there were several during our stay) and, for us, this is a key characteristic of a B&B. For example, on our last morning, we encountered a very nice woman who was doing breakfast service. She was pleasant and you could tell she was trying to be personable with the guests - however, she asked us if we had just arrived. We'd been there 4 days. Details: Check-in - very average. We noted our special occasion anniversary in the reservation comments when we booked but there was no acknowledgment upon arrival. They did not even ask if we needed any recommendations for dinner - which we did. They charge $10/nt for parking, which we knew in advance, but given that most guests likely arrive by car, it would seem less 'nickel and dimey' to just include parking (since it is onsite anyway). We reserved Room 18 and stayed there for 1 nt. We found the bed very hard and springy so we asked the next morning if there were any other rooms. We were offered to look at Room 17 or Room 20. Both had equally hard and springy beds and the pillows were also very hard. They just seemed old and flat, not fluffy at all. The AM desk agent did offer us another room - Room 11 - but since the current guest was checking out that day she asked us to call back around 3pm so we could look at it after it was cleaned. When we called down upon our return that afternoon, the man told us someone else had been checked into that room -- and he didn't even know anything about us looking at it. He had no idea what was going on or who we were. There was no communication at all between AM and PM staff. We ended up staying in Room 17 as it had a separate single bed that was softer than the primary Queen(s). We alternated sleeping in the single bed for our last 2 nights so that we could each get 1 night of decent sleep. In terms of cleanliness, Room 18 seemed clean. Room 17 was not. The underside of toilet seat was not clean, the faucet had toothpaste residue on it, and the lamp shades were all filled with cobwebs. The bedding and towels were okay. There is only one window with a screen in Room 17 and it is in the bathroom facing the alley (where incidentally a vagrant took up residence for 1 of the 2 nights we stayed). The other window facing the front of the Inn opened but the was no screen so we had to balance whether we wanted bugs in the room or airflow. The wall A/C fan unit was not working either which we did not discover until we tried to turn it on on our 2nd night. There was also no bathroom floor mat in Room 17, which in itself not at all a big deal (we used the hand towel) - but there was one for Room 18 so it seemed like they just forgot it when they made up the room. Given that they make a point of informing you at check-in that you will be charged if anything is missing/taken from the room, I expected they would take more care to ensure each room was made up consistently. We did not realize the cleanliness issues until after we'd been out for the day and, since we knew there were no other room options and we wanted to just get ready to go for our anniversary dinner, we just dealt with it. I make a practice of carrying Lysol wipes with me everywhere and I just cleaned things up myself. It certainly did not seem that the man at the desk was going to be of any assistance. On the upside, there was a minifridge provided which was clean and worked well and there was an amenity tray in the bathroom with lip balm, lotion, bath salts, etc. There were only 2 towels provided in Room 18 for our 3 night stay, however. There were 4 towels in Room 17 though so that worked out for us. Breakfast was generally quite good. Several options offered and the plates very nicely presented. The food was better on the first 2 days, however, than the last. One the last morning, breakfast was nicely plated and the service was good - but the food was cold. It seemed to be pre-made and not as fresh as it seemed the previous 2 mornings. Guests were also only offered orange juice on 2 of the 3 mornings. An important note as well is that the neighbourhood is not very desirable. Although it is a short walk to Byward Market, there are homeless shelters/Mission Services within a block of the Inn on both sides which you have to walk past anytime you go out. There were numerous vagrants in the area throughout our stay and on several occasions we encountered groups drinking and doing drugs on the sidewalks. Again, overall, we were disappointed with our stay. Particularly because we thought we did sufficient research prior to booking. Hopefully this review helps others to decide if they want to stay here or look elsewhere.

Located in an historical house close to Ottawa downtown, Byward Market and Ottawa University, Ambassador B&B creates an atmosphere of home and comfort.
I really liked the cleanliness and the breakfast (don't skip it - and let them know if you want to have a vegetarian option). Well located, with a friendly hostess Irina. I stayed there for just one night but I had enough time to visit the neighborhood. I recommend.

Although we had to use this Bed & Breakfast just for a night, we were happy with almost everything related to our stay. This property is located on a quiet street, but within walking distance from the Parliament, Byward Market and Rideau Canal. We arrived sometime in the afternoon. Pierre showed me where to park the car and offered us freshly made tea that was very refreshing after a long day. It was nice talking to him and he provided some useful information that stood in good stead for us. He also kept our car key to place our car in front after arrival of the last guest. We were to leave early the next day and didn’t want to spend time getting our car out from the tight parking space. The décor of the room was not run of the mill, rather quite different with unusual design and colors. The bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean and I liked the wall tiles. Pierre agreed to make us breakfast the following morning a little earlier than the usual time (although he overslept and showed up a little after the agreed time). He made us delectable vegetable and cheese omelettes that we had with whole grain bread toasted to perfection and good coffee. It would have been all perfect if he offered the same bread rather than a regular one when my wife asked for another slice.

The owners were very kind, welcoming and understanding. The stench of urine, damage to the unit and violent psychotic rambling of a long term resident of the above unit, was however, unsettling. While not an issue for me they also did not share that there was no breakfast in the AM due to Covid until after I paid for the room by instructing me to read a paper notice above their desk which I never would have read or noticed.

Freshly renovated, hardwood flooring, spotless and convenient location, perfect place to stay, book early to avoid disappointments
This air bnb is set inside someone’s home. While the owner was lenient about my late check in, there were weird things at play. He was pushing his YouTube channel, “upgraded” me to a room I hadn’t asked for because it was more “romantic”. The man also said my partners ID was necessary, he showed him his health card because he doesn’t have another photo ID card (paper license), even though I was the one who booked and paid and I wasn’t required to show mine. The bathroom was dysfunctional and unclean. The shower head was handheld but no attachment to keep it up, there were two loofas (no idea if these had been previously used), a half full bottle of an almond oil based head and shoulders shampoo (I’m allergic to nuts). My partner and I were both uncomfortable and I wouldn’t have been surprised if there had been cameras in the rooms.

The King Edward B&B is a century-old heritage home in the downtown area of Sandy Hill. It is the closest accommodation to the University of Ottawa. Because of its central location, this B&B is within easy walking distance of all major attractions in the city including Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal, the National Arts Centre, the National Gallery, the Congress Centre, the Museum of Civilization and the ByWard Market. Most guests who come here never use their car because of our location. In its 28th year of operation, this B&B offers unsurpassed Victorian decor.
Clean and lovingly decorated rooms, clean bathroom, hearty breakfast, very lovely dog and caring, bilingual host! Will definitely stay again at this B&B. Location is ideal for visiting the inner city, and you're not far away from the highway for day trip around Ottawa / Gatineau.
