Coco Cana is a restaurant all the way to the East end of Amber Cove Cruise Port area. They have a full bar, and a small menu selection for something quick to eat. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, although the inside is open on two sides, while the outside table have umbrellaâs for covering. Nice little restaurant to sit and have a drink and watch the water from, the staff is friendly, and they do not rush you. They usually have some food and drink specials for the Cruise Ships, and is a nice area to relax and get out of the heat for a bit and grab something to eat, and a cold drink, you can sit at the bar, or at one of the indoor or outdoor tables. If you go, need to try the âMonfongoâ which is very tasty and one of the local favorites, also the shrimp dish which is also very good. There are only a couple of places to actually get something to eat in Amber Cove, and Coco Cana is more of the traditional restaurant type of place. Would recommend and we will go back again the next time we are in port.

We visited Costambar in 2013 and when re-visiting in October 2014 we noticed that Sharky's had opened on Calle Principal. Featuring a large dining area (and adjoining bar) we were fortunate to have shared in the birthday celebration of the owner, who was more than gracious in his welcome The service was fantastic and we enjoyed listening to a local musician, which I appreciated since I am a huge proponent of supporting local musicians, no matter the country. In my estimation there is always room for new businesses and I sincerely believe in the owner's intent of incorporating a different style of dining experience to the Costambar community to be enjoyed for all those who visit or call it home. Thanks Sharky's!

El Carey is a fabulous little bar/restaurant right in the sand beside the ocean in the gated community of Costambar which is 3 miles away from Puerto Plata. We rented a house in Costambar for a week and became "regulars" at El Carey after out first visit! The main part of the restaurant is a covered open air area with gorgeous views and nice breezes. There are also tables with umbrellas right in the sand beside the ocean.The food and drinks we tried were all good. The Pina Coladas were wonderful! The fresh burgers were also delicious!We can't wait to go back! :)

Very nice open air dining experience with good menu. Well stocked bar. Highly recommend their Dominican Nachos. Instead of corn chips they use crisp thin planteens with either pork or beef topping.

Incredible food, simply divine!!!Everything is organic and you have great choices. Service is super friendly and the atmosphere incredible. Located near the cathedral is very easy to find.Suitable for friends, couples and families also. If you are in Puerto Plata, it is a must to see the place. Great set up with a Hard Rock type atmosphere but don't expect live music cause there isnt any and from what the waiter told us, there hasn't been in years. That said the food was good, the prices are friendly and they air the NHL games.

One visit was just for drinks because the fresh fruit cocktails were the best we've had in 5 Caribbean countries!We highly recommend and if we get back to DR, we will be back to Los Charros!
