Find out what Bar restaurants to try in Es Castell. Es Castell (Spanish: Villacarlos) is a small municipality in eastern Menorca in the Balearic Islands, Spain. The town was founded in 1771 by British Col. Patrick Mackellar and was originally called Georgetown in honour of King George III; however, it takes its current name from the large fort nearby, known to the British as St. Philip's Castle. Col. Patrick MacKellar (Argyllshire 1717-1778) was the chief engineer of Menorca and his house today is known as Son Granot. Es Castell celebrates its Foundation Day on 1 June with 18th-century themed festivities, in which the Municipality itself, St. Philip's Castle Foundation, Son Granot and other institutions participate.

Rushing to get to the bus station for the 3:15 bus to Ciutadella we came to the realisation that we were not going to make it. Options 1. sit in the bus station for an hour or find a nicer café. El Viejo Cafetin was only a couple of minutes from the bus station so we thought we would give it a try. Up to now the day had not gone very well, 30 Euros to get to Mahon and back and it had rained virtually all day! We had also missed the bus so not in the best of moods. Ordered a cup of hot chocolate each (the way our day was going it seemed a safer option than risking getting a bad coffee). The waitress was friendly and efficient and made us feel welcome so our mood was brightening more than the weather. The drinking chocolate arrived WOW! I am over 60 and this was the best cup of hot chocolate I have tasted in my entire life. It was so rich with chocolate that I truly believe it could only be several bars of chocolate melted into the cups. The waitress saw how much we were enjoying the hot chocolate and brought over a croissant (gratis) and suggested that we dip it into the chocolate and eat it, pure indulgence. It certainly brightened up our day and was only just over 4 euros for the both of us, absolute bargain. If the rest of menu is only half as good as the chocolate drink I would award 10 out of 10. Sadly we had to get the bus but we will Menorca again and make a point of going for another cup of actual hot chocolate and also sample more items from the menu. Our sincere thanks go to the staff as it made us re-assess our opinion of Mahon and remember our visit in a much better light. So if you are in Mahon and feeling low just pop into El Viejo Cafetin just outside the bus station and try their hot chocolate, you will not be disappointed.

Perla kitchen thrives on cooking fresh food the old fashioned way kind of at home but with a twist. Twist would be creating something different every week whilst maintaining freshness and quality of our signature menu. Oh, did i mention our array of drink
Lovely family-run (I think) restaurant in a narrow side street in the middle of Mahon. Our (multilingual) waiter was a joy; friendly, welcoming, informed and efficient. The food was delicious and the ambiance was relaxed and cozy. We went back again a week later and it was just as good the second time.

We have visited sa Cala on previous holidays and enjoyed it there , so after a harbour cruise we decided to head there for a light lunch or tapas. Happy to say as in the past we were served by very friendly and helpful staff , who were gracious enough to allow us continue to improve our Spanish by practicing on them and helping with our pronunciation. We had a lovely view of the harbour and allEnjoyed the various tapa dishes we ordered , the Iberico ham and cheese croquettes were delicious. Portions are large and prices reasonable. We will be back again for sure

We arrived at 12.40 but it basically does not open until 1pm.Friendly staff who brought us a beer whilst we waited. We had the best tomato bread we have ever had with our beer. Then sobrasada with Mahon cheese and honey - absolutely gorgeous !! And escalivada and anchovies which was tasty and completely different. Good beer and wine available and also a small but good selection of main meals.Ask for the English menu to properly understand !!

So pleased for trip advisor reviews of this cafe while visiting Mahon, as the wind picked up and everywhere closed down their shutters we got the last table available in this tiny rustic cafe. The plastic menus,of which there are many seems a bit tacky but once read &decided what we wanted we quickly forgot this.It was buzzy with locals and very cosy, we ordered a couple of drinks &decided to have a few tapas, we were delighted with our choice, all tasty & plentiful. The bill was â¬24 for 4 drinks & 4 tapas, good value in our opinion.Itâs off the main area but worth a detour

Very interesting and unique place to have a drink. There's a great ambience in the caves at the back, wine excellent and very reasonably priced, also a great place to sit and watch the world go by.

I called in at lunch time for a beer and decided to book for dinner that evening. As it was a Saturday the restaurant was busy but we had good service and the food and wine was excellent. We ordered 5 tapas dishes for 2 and it was more than enough.
