Pho Of The Desert

Having just returned from a vacation in Vietnam we were urgently looking for a place where we could relive the tastes we encountered. Pho of the Desert does this perfectly and we have been back multiple times to enjoy. We've even brought family and friends and now they want to come back to Vietnam with us to see how we found such good food.

Panda Express

Not sure what is going on with most panda Express restaurants but the food is just not kept hot anymore. We stopped at this location on our way to California on February 27 at 12:10pm. First let me say that the restaurant was very, very clean. The employees were all dressed clean and were very polite. My wife and I both loved Panda Express and we always see a location and say let's try this one. The food tastes good, it's just not hot. My wife likes the steamed veggies, they were almost cold, not even warm. Mine were warm, not hot. the Shanhai Beef was warm, not hot. My Honey Walnut shrimp was Hot. that's about it. I would not really recommend this location, I blame it on the management as the employees looked like they were doing what they were taught to do. I did notice that some of their customers were getting much bigger portions as they were going towards the register. Also, no fortune cookies offered, what's with that!!!! [Order Number#161304]

Nice young man as initial waiter obviously not real experienced. Facility open and non-typical of most oriental restaurants. The tea served was marginally hot.The appetizers and eggdrop soup were served only a couple minutes before the entrees. The entree was sent back to be heated up. Food (sweet n sout shrimp, chicken n broccoli meals) were OK but not as was hoped for and normally experienced. Prices were reasonable - if the food were tastier and served hot..

This isn't in a "normal" spot, squeezed in amongst warehouse sized neighbors, but it is interesting tapas style food, without being amazing or must go again. Small restaurant with all glass front that sadly was ruined a couple of times with cars parking and leaving highlights blazing into the restaurant, a couple of times. Service was pleasant and the prices were fair. Like I said its ok, its good in fact, but it's just not all that memorable or romantic or quaint. Its small, packed and lacking a vibe or ambiance of any note

Cie Sichuan Cuisine

This was our first visit and we were more than pleasantly surprised. The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated and the menu is very extensive. The only thing I would suggest would be to add an off-dry wine choice. We shared the cucumber and garlic salad, sweet and sour ribs, duck tongue, and mixed hot pot, and all were terrific. The key word is authentic. It felt like we were dining in a Sichuan restaurant in San Francisco, not Indio. Flavors were clean and complex, ingredients were fresh and well thought out, and the level of spice (we ordered medium) was perfect. We like spicy food, and medium spicy was plenty spicy. This is definitely a place where you can take a bit of a food adventure and try a few things for the first time, which we did with the duck tongue, and it was very good. The service was attentive and the owners stopped by and were very friendly. Prices are reasonable, especially considering that the portions are on the large side. I thing this will become a go-to spot for us.

We've had a second home in Indio for several years but had never tried Ha Ha Chinese Restaurant. But we were more than pleasantly surprised! It's smaller than it used to be but it's clean and the food was very good. It looks like it's family run and the wife was taking care of the entire front of the restaurant. She brought the drinks, food, tableware, water, and cleared it all away too. Busy lady! I had the wonton soup and my husband had the hot and sour. Both were very good. It came with crispy noodles and some dipping sauces that had some spiciness to them. I had the Garlic Shrimp which was very tasty and my husband had the Kung Pao Chicken which was also very good and spicy. Each dish comes with either steamed or fried rice; we both had the fried and it was good too. It also comes with an egg roll which was the weakest part of the whole meal. It was mostly the outer crunchy part with not much filling. And a fortune cookie for dessert. We just had hot tea to go with it. When we received the check we were surprised at how little it was! Only $22 for all that food for two people. We will definitely return!
