Stopped for lunch with a group of 13 and ordered an assortment of pizzas, burgers, cheese steak and a very good Greek chopped salad - all were very good and fresh. It’s definitely a place the regulars hang out but we didn’t feel out of place at al. Staff was friendly and place was clean.

Very good restaurant. The hotel is there too (not so good). Open three meals. Ate there twice. Did not stay there, but saw two rooms.

We needed an inexpensive place ($100+) to stay for 7 hours between Littleton and Buena Vista and this was one of our choices. The negatives: room wasn't even locked when we arrived. OLD facilities. Noisy ceiling fan. Small shower, no bathtub, and all bathroom necessities were in one compact small room; toilet, shower, sink and mirror. Lobby floors and stairs were very dirty. Breakfast was less than continental...it was as if everything was just bought at the local gas station and then brought to hotel. Positives: the character of hotel!! The lobby area, stairs, halls, rooms, decorations were all so vintage! The atmosphere of the hotel was enjoyable. We had two twin beds and a king size bed, so that was convenient. And....that's about it! It was neat to be there, but our 7 hour stay was all that we would want to do.

We have frozen tamales, chili and burritos (soon to have made to order burritos and warm tamales). Our Tamales have been on TV. Duff Goldman from Charm City Cakes nominated Dorothy's Homemade Tamales. We were on an episode of The Best Thing I Ever Ate (Un

We stopped in a couple of days ago on our way to the Hot Springs in Buena Vista. We were feeling just a bit peckish and my wife saw a small sign for tamales. We both thought tamales sounded good so we turned around and pulled in. KB's Kakery & Dorothy's Tamales is in a small strip mall on Hwy 285 where CO 9 turns north. The restaurant was small, just two or three small tables, its mostly a pick-up to-go place. She certainly hit a home run with this choice.(her restaurant choices are not usually so successful, CUMB!)My wife had a Red Chicken -- meaning a chicken tamale with red sauce, she just loved it. The sauce was flavorful but not to hot, the tamale itself was perfect. It had a nice amount of chicken and just the perfect amount of corn, not so thick that it was all corn but not so thin as to not get the good corn flavor. The tamale was light, not really dense at all. I had 2 Green Pork. The pork was shredded and the green sauce was fantastic, just the right amount of heat for me and great flavor. They were so good, we decided to split another Red Chicken... umm-umm good.We were so happy with our tamales, we decided to try their baked goods. They had lots of choices, lemon bars, cookies, donuts, looked like some cake on a stick, and giant cinnamon rolls. The cinnamon roll looked good but did not have any icing and since I'm all about the icing I wasn't interested. But then my wife pointed out that there was a cup of icing included for spreading or dipping. Cool... so we bought one.We took it with us to the hot springs and ate it a couple of hours later. It was good, but as often happens with individually baked cinnamon rolls, it was drier than I like them. Also, since this was Monday noon when we bought it, and most of their business this time of year is on week-ends, it could have been a day old. The flavor was good and the icing was light and delicious. In any case, from now on I'll be sticking to cinnamon rolls that are baked in batches and then purchasing one of the inside rolls. We definitely recommend KB's Kakery and Dorothy's Tamales. Next time we'll have to try some of their other baked goods.

Located just off main street on front street with many great shops, and old time ice cream. This restaurant looks mexican but it offers great appetizers, cactus fries and jalapeno popers. Happy hour and dinners begin at 4pm. Main entrees surprise with braised beef short ribs, red trout, lamb shank and a 32 oz NY steak....all cooked to perfection! This is not cheap (high 20's per entree) but worth it. Hostess was great (Christina) aims to please. If you are in Fairplay be sure to EAT here!

Visited with another couple for lunch. Hubby had fried fish as did the other couple. I had a 2 egg build-your-own omelette and all our orders came out cooked as ordered and hot. Hubby felt there was a little to much breading but the taste was good and the serving amount was plentiful. My eggs came out just as I like them and I was very happy that they serve breakfast all day. The atmosphere was relaxing and down-home. It was crowded and the cafe seemed popular with the locals. Prices were reasonable and we would come again next time we are in town.
