Vietnam's bustling largest city sets the cultural and economic pace for the country. The former Saigon boasts charming French colonial architecture and wide boulevards, usually thronged and choked with traffic. Taxis are an option for seeing the sprawling city. The War Remnants Museum shows the Vietnam War through Vietnamese eyes. Don't miss the impressive Jade Emperor Pagoda. Go to the frenetic Ben Thanh Market for food, flowers or frogs. Tour through the Mekong Delta, past rice paddies and houseboats.

One of my favorite bookstores. Many souvenirs, books and handmade products from vietnamese companies. Besides that, it has many foreign books for you to find easily.

We headed to Saigon after our adventures in Central Vietnam so naturally I had to try their city golf courses. Booked at TSN golf as it was closest to our hotel (11kms/35 mins by taxi from District 3). Kept my expectations low, after all this was a city public course. Note that it's pretty difficult to book as a solo player in Saigon but the trick is to just turn up to TSN course, go to the check in counter and let them know that you don't have a booking. They will communicate this to the starters and will slot you in a group. I went one weekday afternoon and they pretty much found a group for me straight away. A 2-ball just finished teeing off on the 1st so my male caddy and i met them on the 2nd teebox. It is a cracking golf course, made up of 4 x 9 holes (A,B,C,D) so you can have varying 18 hole configurations. It's beautifully maintained and was an absolute pleasure to play. Fairways are excellent, great layout with soft fluffy bunkers. I was in awe and the fact that it is right next to the airport didn't bother me at all. I still completed 18 holes (in about 4.5 hours) finishing on the 1st hole. A-grade facilities also incl massage chairs. I also went back on a Saturday which was much busier. I waited for about an hour before I found a group to join, then took 5.5 hours to complete 18 holes. Green fees are VND2.0M on weekdays and VND2.6M on weekends incl cart. Caddy tips additional. Go out there and have a hit. An absolute bang-for-your-buck course and one to remember, just avoid it on weekends. And yes it will be hot & humid so be prepared. Lots of walking required as carts never leave the cartpath. Tip: across the road from the main entrance are shops that sell good quality used balls cheaply.
