Even if you can't be in Hakodate to see the cherry blossoms in May, you'll fall in love with the sunset views from Mount Hakodate. Surrounded by the ocean, it's no wonder Hakodate is known for fresh seafood. If you're up early, have domburi for breakfast at a restaurant in the Morning Market by Hakodate Station.

The staff speak English and are extremely eager to help. They go out of their way to explain things and also make sure that tourists understand them clearly. Probably the best information office we encountered during our stay in Japan. They even have Information Staff on the move who, when they see you looking 'lost', voluntarily approach you and offer to help.
