I notice the Danish architects (who specialise in libraries) have also done the new Shanghai Public Library, Pudong. I have seen the Duncan Rice Library atrium and from photographs a not dissimilar atrium is included in Shanghai. Population 25 million. Glad Aberdeen University were bold enough to go for an eye catching design with specialist architects internationally recognised - Schmidt Hammer Lassen.

Never visited Aberdeen before. Called in at the iCentre to ask for a street map. Within 5 minutes they had provided me with a package of information. I had been given info on a self guided tour of old Aberdeen. They had info on all the places that are currently open to visitors. And info on day trips in the surrounding area. Staff were friendly, helpful, welcoming and very well informed. Transformed my visit to the city.
