Until we stopped providing tours in Dec 2016. We were a New Zealand based tour company providing special eco friendly, outdoor scenic day tours in the beautiful native forest & beaches of the Waitakere Ranges in Auckland. Our website now instead provides inspiration for visitors to go see and visit in the Waitakere Rannges on their own. check our website or Instagram and get inspired and plan your next adventure to The Waitakere Ranges

As a local these are my observations: If you are arriving by car, organize your time to be prepared to look for a car park on busy weekends or holidays. There are no shops or petrol stations here. . There are two car parks you can use to go to Wainamu, one to the right of the one-lane bridge and one to the left. Park considerately. You may need to drive right down to the beach and walk back up. Parking clumisly on the roadside is not helpful. our roads are narrow and emergency vehicles need to get through. April has been a busy time so far., there are limited car-parks at the entrance way to the Lake walk-way. . Toilets only at the beach. And occassional portaloos at the car parks. There is no cell phone coverage it is a good idea to clearly make a designated meeting point for friends if you are travelling in seperate vehicles. Sports people need to know what the by-laws are for using Auckland Parks. (Especially in the area of noise and allowable numbers visiting). The Lake has become a popular place for swimming and sand dune activity so it is important that visitors think about how their sound travels. a lot of people are" coming to nature" not wanting extra urban sound. People are still littering a lot up at the lake. Please take everything with you. baby wipes. tins and glass. This "best kept secret" is out now but sadly it is being treated badly by some visitors. Please be tidy kiwis! Lets keep Wainamu pristine. Be in nature, be welcome, care for the area. Be safe!
