Life is just a little bit slower on Virgin Gorda, so named because this British Virgin Island resembles a large reclining woman. The laid-back pace of the island is the perfect excuse to take your time, whether you’re wading along the granite grottoes of The Baths, doing some casual snorkeling in Devil’s Bay, or exploring the stone ruins of a 19th century Copper Mine. Hanging out in the hammock at Mad Dog while you sip a Painkiller is the ultimate in Virgin Gorda relaxation.

This magnificent Virgin Gorda beach, which is adjacent to The Baths, is a great place for snorkeling.
Near the baths. Park in the National Park and walk about 5 minutes on easy path. We walked in barefeet. Once there, you can snorkel or scale the rocks. My teenage son loved the climbing There were picnic tables. Very secluded.

A bay in Virgin Gorda amid enormous granite rocks with warm, shallow water.
This was one of the most beautiful little Beaches I have ever had the pleasure of visiting, gorgeous bathtub like water, amazing rock formations, incredible photos! We visited with a charter tour from St Thomas. Hoping it survived the hurricane, I haven't seen too many Irma posts about Virgin Gorda.
Bring flip flops, and water shoes or old sneakers since you'll be walking over slippery rocks to get here. Not recommended if you have knee issues in my opinion due to the walk to get down to the beach area!

Virgin Gorda's loveliest beach is a long strand of powdery white coastline lapped by placid waters.
Although a slightly tricky entrance (unless you have succumbed to a Cat), Savannah Bay and Pound Bay reward you with a perfect Caribbean beach, protected by the reef and free from swells.
First came here hoping to dinghy ashore for the Italian Restaurant that we thought was there. Found it was not open but enjoyed a BBQ aboard and kept coming back for the quiet solitude.

The most well-known attraction on the island, these giant boulders or batholiths, brought to the surface by volcanic eruptions, are scattered about forming a beautiful grotto and tranquil pools.
Really enjoyed the Baths. We were there quite early and managed to get a close mooring ball. Swam in and enjoyed the walk through the rocks. Got a little busy with a coach trip and you need to be fairly agile in places.

Arrived to overnight via 44 ft catamaran. Moored and went to Carib's restaurant and bar for happy hour which seems like a tradition with boaters. A must see is the feeding of the tarpons at 5:00 pm. Huge fish gather to be fed. The host put on a great show. Just a fun thing to do after a day of sailing. There is a great gift store as well. A great stop in the BVI's !!

There's even a tower on Virgin Gorda's highest peak to enhance the breathtaking and dizzying Panorama.
Despite living in the BVI for more than a decade this trip was my first time on the Gorda peak and trail. The potential here is immense but poor and non Existent signage leaves a lot to be desired. While I think I made it to Gorda peak I have no idea since I saw nothing indicating the summit. Multiple trails exists and we made it to a viewing platform with good views over the surrounding Islands after a 40 minute walk. No idea however of what was possible so a bit more info and guidance on the trail would've been nice.

The copper mine was erected in Virgin Gorda by the British in 1837. You can find it at Coppermine Point, a rocky, windswept promontory along the southeast coast of the island just south of Virgin Gorda Airport.
In 2003, the BVI Government designated Coppermine Point as a National Park. When you go, look for the lines of copper still visible in the rock here.

A secluded beach area with fine swimming and snorkeling, with a sailboat or two in the distance as your closest neighbor.
Beach is a bit rockier which volcanic rocks. They said there was a lot of sea glass but we didn't have any luck.
