The most suburban of the five boroughs, Staten Island is often neglected as a tourist destination. Take a ride from Manhattan on the Staten Island Ferry and get some of the best views of New York City for free, then stick around and see what Staten Island has to offer. Check out the Himalayan monastery-style Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art, or visit Historic Richmond Town for a recreation of colonial New York. The beautiful Hamilton Park neighborhood was the setting for "The Godfather."

A fun place with unusual gifts, Staten Island souvenirs, and quirky items besides comic books. A friendly face in the neighborhood, shop owner Joy runs the show. Check it out the next time you're in St. George, a short walk from the ferry.

We visited the St. George Theater on Staten Island to see the 15th annual Christmas Show. The event includes local performers and dancers from around SI. It was ok. The theater itself is a site to behold! It's being refurbished over many years and has an early 20th century atmosphere, very baroque. I've seen several shows here and there are very few bad seats in the house. RCSB seats are especially good if you get event tickets early. They have an eclectic list of events including cover bands, oldies, DJs, and movies! Prices are typically equivalent to the talent.

Richmond County Ballpark is a convenient visit from the SI Ferry, whenever there is an event there, including the Staten Island Yankees minor league baseball team. Good refreshment stand choices also.

Located on the site of the United States Lighthouse Service General Depot, we are here to educate about the history, and importance, of our maritime sentinels. We are not only education! We also make lighthouses and maritime history fun. We host festivals, boat tours, and other special events, all during the year. Come to join us!
I am so pleased I found this compact and informative museum (expansion coming in the next few years). Friendly and knowledgeable staff and some good exhibits (a big "thank you" to Jim for the enthusiastic orientation and local knowledge). A very pleasant way to pass an hour or two. Only a short walk from the ferry terminal and just up the road from the Flagship Brewery for those in need of sustenance. Definitely worth the trip to Staten Island.

WELCOME TO NEW YORK’S ONLY OUTLET SHOPPING DESTINATION Empire Outlets is New York City’s premier outdoor shopping and dining center. With its picture-perfect views of lower Manhattan, a lush landscaped plaza with tranquil fountains, and access to some of the best deals, Empire Outlets is unlike any other shopping destination in the city. We’re just steps from the Staten Island Ferry, which means you’re just steps away from pure joy.
The shops here are huge and contain most of what you'll be looking for. Levi jeans were $50 each or 2 pairs for $80.I also got a pair of cargo trousers for $12! Well worth a visit as it is only a couple of minutes from the ferry terminal.
