I chose Natural Bridge as a stop on our way to Lake Placid. We arrived around 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon and the parking lot was pretty full which was a bit unexpected because we saw no cars on the way down the road that leads to this destination. My twelve year old daughter decided she would do the scavenger hunt, which I think is a nice activity for kids. Plus, you get to choose from three prizes at the end of completing the hunt (find a hidden word within the clues). My daughter chose a poster. The paths are well marked and there are handrails to hold. The difficulty may come in navigating the stairs, which at times are unevenly spaced heights. This can't be helped to the natural environment, but something to be aware of, and can definitely wear out your knees. Also, even though it had not rained that day, there were still some muddy parts to navigate and the edges of steps, though mostly tacked with rubber strips to prevent slipping, can still be slippery. I recommend good shoes, as I slipped even in my hiking shoes on one of the rubber edges. There is a bin of wooden walking sticks provided for your use, so take advantage. We did not do any of the extra activities, only the regular numbered trail. We were back to our car within an hour. Overall a good experience.

My husband loves this brewery, so we drive more than an hour to visit it. The food truck has some terrific items that compliment the great selection of beers made here. It makes for a wonderful afternoon trip on a nice day. We always bring some home to enjoy and extend the pleasure.

This is a moderately strenuous climb. I am 59 years old and in good shape. I made the top in 1 hour 55 minutes and made the trip down in 1 hour and 40 minutes. The trail is very rocky. Watch your step - poles will help (I did not have any). There are no views until right before the trail splits for Porter Mountain and then the summit views. You can see Lake Placid's ski jump and the surrounding area. The summit was very windy when I was there. Parking is adequate at the trail head but I assume it gets crowded at times.

Scaroon Manor is a New York State campground, officially. But what Scaroon Manor really is hiking trails, water views, swimming, majestic views, and one of the finest locations on Schroon Lake. We are not campers any more, but by the care given to the buildings and grounds, this has to be one of the State's best.
If you are a camper, camp; a swimmer, swim; or if you love nature just take long walk. Don't miss the historic markers and pictures of the good old days of Scaroon Manor. Has anyone mentioned that the movie Marjorie Morningstar, starring Natalie Wood and Gene Kelly, to name a few, was filmed at the original hotel and grounds in the late 1950's.

Experienced Fourth of July here. Drawing bigger and bigger crowds for a reason. So much camaraderie, food, fun, and music. Love the beach on quieter days too. Our family loves Schroon Lake

Seagle Music Colony is the oldest summer vocal training program in the United States and the premiere opera and musical theatre producing organization in the Adirondack Region of upstate New York. During its 9-week summer season, Seagle Music Colony artists produce a mainstage season of two operas, two musicals, a touring children's opera and several other concerts.
I came to Schroon Lake for the first time this summer to see three shows at the Seagle Music Colony. This program, in its 99th summer season, puts on a combination of operas and musicals each summer. To do that they recruit the most talented young (generally in their 20s) voices from music schools across the country.
To be honest, my initial interest was because my son was among the 32 performers invited to Seagle this summer. That said, he was surrounded by extraordinary talents and teachers/directors that assured that each of these performers grows as they provide an amazing opportunity for audiences drawn to the beauty of the Adirondacks.
I would highly recommend Seagle programs for visitors to upstate New York!

This place has a bit of everything, souvenirs, kids toys, homemade fudge, and even a wine bar upstairs. $6 to taste 5 wines, you can even sit out on the second floor screen porch and have your wine. Look around, they had some great local art and craft things to buy as well, especially upstairs.

We stopped here to rent kayaks and go for a paddle. The gentleman helping us was friendly and had us in kayaks in short order. The rental price was fair and the yaks were in good shape. The shop itself is clean and pretty well stocked. Seems like it's probably your best choice on Schroon Lake.
