My wife and I stopped at Delaney Winery while in Nevada MO. The wine was great, but the customer service was unbeatable. You can search long and hard, but I doubt you will find this kind of friendliness from another business

County and regional history museum focusing on the Civil War, Native Americans, railroads, U.S. military, and former State Mental Hospital. Tours also include the first Vernon County Jail, which is on the National Register of historic places.
This is a very informative museum to begin unraveling the truth of the devastion of the Missouri border known as "The Burnt District". This "District" was made up of the northern portion of Bates County and all of Vernon, Cass, and Jackson counties. According to historian and author,Tom Rafiner, during the Civil War "About 40,000 people left and more than 2,200 square miles of western Missouri was completely burned, including 2800 family farms, and most of the villages and towns in Bates and Cass Counties." After the museum, the jail will take you back in time when prisoners we treated to the barest accomodations in a bleak environment. Very well preserved and a knowledgeable tour guide made this a memorable stop.
