We rented an RV and went with our kids (7 & 11) to Spring Lake Park. I had tent camped there 2 years ago so was familiar with the park and amenities, but this experience exceeded our expectations. We found a great campsite (all are first come first served), and spent 5 days hiking, mountain biking, kayaking and pontooning. Ryan was so generous to my family. Camp hosts were helpful and kind. We rented the RV as a COVID precaution so we didn't need to use common bath facilities, but bathrooms and showers were never crowded and were very clean so we ended up using them. Spring Lake Park is a solid 4 hours from Chicago - far enough to get away from Chicago but not too far. Highly recommend!

With CoVid restrictions they are limited to carry out only. That being said, when the seating area was open, it is a great place to have a tasty beverage. There is always a variety of beer brewed on property. They even will have regional brewers share their craft on occasion. The ambience is perfect in the nicely decorated area. An outside beer garden is perfect for a summer day. Although they don’t serve food, there are food trucks parked on site on the weekends that have never disappointed my belly. The staff are excellent and knowledgeable as well. This is a true gem of the area and should be top on the list for a visit!
