This 17,372-acre park has botanic and geologic features that are unique in the state.
We spent a long weekend at Pickett State Park recently in one of the park chalets. It was a very nice and relaxing weekend. The chalet is basic but has everything you would need to step away from the day to day for a while....MoreThanks for spending the weekend with us! We are glad you enjoyed the chalets. We are in the process of updating our cabins and villas and hope that you will come back and spend some unplugged time with us again soon.

Unfortunately, we picked the wrong time of year to visit this park. A warning to all: do not attempt to visit the first Thursday-Sunday of August unless you like yard sales. We did not realize it was the weekend for the world's longest yard sale (Michigan to Georgia) on Hwy 127. It took almost two hours to travel 41 miles. This would have been ok if we could have visited the state park once we arrived but it was filled with vendors. The visitor center was very nice and we drove the back road to the cemetery but the rest was overshadowed with junk and hundreds of people. Very disappointing.

Tennessee's Oldest Winery. We have 14 varities of wines available to taste and purchase in our tasting room. Free tours of the facility. Extensive gift shop filled with wine, equestrian, lake, and camping themed items. Enjoy a picnic in our vineyard or wine cellar!
This Winery has a great gift store where you can find unusual gifts, great cheese, jams and crackers.
The wine is absolutely great. We prefer the Riesling but like also the Res Table Wine. The owners are great. Also the workers are very nice with great customer service.
You can taste every wine.
It's worth visiting the winery.

My 9 year old daughter loves to ride horses and the outdoors. My husband and her convinced me to go on a 3 night, 4 day horseback ride pack trip... It was awesome!
Not an avid camper myself but an avid adventure traveler this trip brought back the excitement of the type of traveling my husband and I use to do before my daughter was born. We arrived at Larry's barn midday the day prior to going out. He took us on a get-acquainted trail ride to better match us with the right horse, saddle and tack; when Larry says "custom ride" he means it. He wanted to make sure our ride would be enjoyable. That short trail ride could have been the main attraction in itself. His well-trained horses rode us through one of the best trail rides I have been on my entire life, This includes Golden Triangle jungle, Canadian Rockies and Sinai Peninsula treks. The trails are exiting, beautiful, river/creek crossing and speed varying. At one point during the actual 4-day ride we safely crossed a football field-wide river. His mules were amazing, they carried all sorts of creature comforts for us. The food was excellent with thick cut steaks and biscuits made in a Dutch oven, He even made sure I had a hot shower nightly. For those of us who can do with a bit more comfort other than a sleeping bag in a tent, Larry can arrange you sleep in a lodge without compromising on the adventure. This trip was truly custom. My daughter got to fish, shoot, camp, learn to track bear and ride like no other place I've experienced. "Rock and Roll Larry!!" ;)

For anyone who loves to horse camp, this is the place. It is outstanding. Campsites are great. You have a choice of full hookup, electric & water and primitive. There are bathhouses (super clean) and also cabins available. Check out the website. They also provide picnic tables, trash cans and some have grills. You can stall your horse (barns are outstanding) or you can picket.
Now the best part are the trails. They are wide and some even wide enough for buggies. I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful the overlook views are. They are breathtaking. God is awesome!!!
This was our first trip, but it won't be our last. We are already planning next trip.
Please check it out; you won't be disappointed.

Borderland Expeditions, is an outpost located in Jamestown TN specializing in outdoor recreation. We offer gear rental, adventure tours, transportation, and information about many surrounding parks including the Big South Fork, Pickett State Park, Obed WIld & Scenic River, Alvin C. York State Park, etc.
My two sons (15 & 11 years old) and I did a cave tour with Borderland Expeditions. Our guide, Ken, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He spent more than 4 hours with us. The cave exploration required some belly crawling, butt sliding, and a willingness to get dirty -- but that's the fun part! We enjoyed the adventure!

Constructed of local sandstone, Ye Ole Jail Historic Museum once served as Fentress County, Tennessee's jail from 1900 to 1979. Today, the building contains artifacts and documents detailing the era in which the jail was in use. Ye Ole Jail building also houses the Fentress County Chamber of Commerce.
A great way to introduce the family to the old history of Jamestown, Tennessee. We really loved the visit there.
