I was not expecting all the animals they had in there. It is a pretty neat place and would go back again. They have other things to do other than see animals. They had a mystery house, panning for gold, souvenir shops, some food, and an arcade type thing. The nursery was really cool too. I would definitely go back if I am ever in Hayward again.

Visitors to this unique attraction stand in a giant fiberglass musky that's half a block long and five stories high.
This is a really neat museum if you are a fishing nut. Been coming here since I was a child. My Dads old fishing club patch is even in there! Look for the Fish Hawks patch!!

50+ mile hiking, biking, skiing, snowshoe trail that runs between 2 small towns in northern Wisconsin
Birkie trail is over 100km of trails and offers world class skiing. It is professionally groomed year round. It has lots of great hills, mostly through wooded terrain. It is very wide, enough for 5-6 pople or so, and has spectacular views. Trails also include hiking, snowshoeing, running, hiking and even fatbike areas. I ski here with my 6 and 9 year olds, we espcially love the OO trailhead where the trails are lit up at night. A yearly ski pass is only $50 and kids up to age 12 ski free. Day passes also available. Such a great place!

They offer a really nice wine tasting for $7, sampling 8 wines. Some of them are named after fish & most all were pretty representative of their types. The white Sangria was wonderful (could be used in a mimosa also) & the red Port was equally as good. There were few I didn't care for & as a regular beer drinker, not wine, I was impressed. Definitely worth a trip.

Stop in for area information including maps, brochures, coupons, and much more. Friendly staff to assist you in planning your vacation to the beautiful northwoods.
Stopped by here to find out what was available to do in the area. They had brochures galore and very helpful staff. The girls can let you know where everything is & make good recommendations.

Horseback riding was something we were all looking forward to during our vacation. We had a group of five adults who had very little horseback riding experience, and I was concerned about safety. However, from the time we arrived until the time we left, I felt that Spider Lake Ranch did everything possible to ensure a safe, enjoyable ride. We were offered the option of riding helmets, and each horse was matched to the rider's abilities. I liked the fact that the owners treated the horses humanely and noted each horse's particular preferences. For instance, my horse responded very quickly, so they advised me to be very gentle on the reins. Another person's horse was a bit sassy and liked to try to nibble grass during our ride (which is apparently a rude thing for the horse to do), so that rider was told to pull up on the reins to prevent the horse from doing that. The path they took us on went through a nice wooded area, and we actually saw a deer and a fawn during our ride. It was a very enjoyable experience, and I would highly recommend Spider Lake Ranch.

Stopped here on a Saturday during Christmas. The store has some lovely things. All very well displayed & clean. The women working ( all volunteers) were so nice. I bought a bag of “ shelter blend coffee”. It’s definitely worth checking out, they have a...MoreThank you for your kind words Mumzie. The volunteers work very hard to make an appealing display of items. Please come back and see us again!
