Maine Wildlife Park

State run wildlife park whose wildlife is permanently injured, human dependent or had been raised in captivity; so cannot be released back into the wild.

Looking for something to do for an afternoon and don't want to spend a fortune, definitely check out Maine Wildlife Park. Its affordable, $7 for an adult and slightly less for children over 5. They are open rain or shine, and we decided to go on a rainy afternoon before shopping in nearby Freeport. There is a lot of walking, the park is spread out, but the animal exhibits are really neat. Where else are you going to see so many native animals in one spot? We especially enjoyed the cougars, such majestic cats that you wouldn't want to run into in the wild, so here is your chance to see one up and close.

Thompson's Orchards

Reviewed By Maybeinerror - Houston, Texas

I found this on maineapples.org--I was looking for an orchard between Portland and Lewiston, convenient to the Maine Turnpike. Thompson's fit the criteria and was a lovely stop. I did not pick apples myself, although I could have. The cider donuts were wonderful, as was the cider, and I bought a bag of apples to enjoy on my trip. The woman who helped me was very nice and patiently listened to how happy I was to be back in New England eating MacIntosh apples! Thompson's was easy to find and it was a pretty drive too.

Sebago Lake Fishing Charters

So last year went out with the family and had an amazing time, this year I went out by myself. First time hooked into a couple of fish, but couldn't land them. So Matt the Guide offered me another day and we nailed them. Matt is a true professional, always confident and ready for action. A guide to offer another time after a bad experience is so unheard of today. I was a split charter and I landed the first Salmon, a beauty. Upload pictures later. Great time, great guide and will always book with Matt anytime I am in the area, Thanks again Matt.

Bradbury Mountain State Park

Reviewed By Joyfullyinme

Bradbury mountain is a wonderful spot for a short hike and beautiful views. On a clear day one can see for miles. The short hikes are fairly well marked but I must admit I have gotten lost on one occasion! The hike is not strenuous and offers A glimpse into hiking in the main woods. It is particularly nice on top in the fall when the leaves are changing or when the weather is good for a picnic up top.
