This museum offers more information, beauty, history, and collectors' items per square
foot than any museum I've visited. Starting with a replica of a world class archeological
excavation found nearby, through arrowheads, tools, weapons, textiles, a settler's log
cabin, library, and local art and photography, this small building is full of information and
love for the history of Bosque County. The docents are friendly and knowledgeable, there is ample parking, there is rarely any traffic in town. We should probably keep this
museum a secret!

The Whipple truss bridge at Clifton is one of those dinosaurs from a bygone time that should be seen. 138 years ago the townsfolk needed a reliable way to get across the Bosque river so they built this bridge. That was during the time of horses, wagons, and steam trains, and and it is still doing
It's job.
Driving or riding across is nice, but walking on it is fantastic. Being on the truss bridge is unlike a concrete one, you can feel the "life" in it, the creaks and shutters as a car passes is unforgettable.
Alas, the days are numbered for these holdovers, get out and experience it while you can.

Bosque Arts Center is a wonderful surprise in the small town of Clifton. The Bosque Arts Center features an upstairs gallery display of art, not only by very talented area artists but also by artists from throughout the U.S. The Bosque Arts Center includes a theatre where there are outstanding stage productions presented. In recent years they have hosted well-known performers including Riders in the Sky, a talented western music and comedy group. The Bosque Arts Center also offers workshops and classes. If you just wish to visit the art gallery, that can be done within an hour or so, but if you wish to participate in a workshop, or attend a show, or a stage performance, obviously that requires more time. Suggestion -- while there for a stage production or a workshop, ask if the Art Gallery is open to visitors at that time so you can also see the beautiful art.

Great little spot in the middle of the road that my husband initially found while on a motorcycle trip. The wines are not grown here but in Meridian Tx that we will plan on going to when we have more time as we were on our way back from Dallas. The server was very knowledgeable in all the wines served as well as there is a little kitchen that you can oder a cheese and meat platter for your wine tastings as well as homemade sandwiches. Cute little gift shop with all the items a wine lover will love.

The owner of the museum gave us a fantastic overview of the history of the cars and Clifton itself. We really enjoyed seeing all the cars he has collected as well as the memorabilia connected to Clifton. And no car collection would be complete without a collection of Elvis. The museum had a huge selection of what is called Muscle Cars today. As well as some of the smaller sportster cars. The collection from Clifton brought back memories of our childhood when we had phone booths and movie houses when there was a man who ran the film projection booth. His father had been in the tv and radio repair business and he has a large collection of unique radios and tvs of the 40's and 50's. He even has a jukebox with records that have been made for the jukebox. We had a wonderful time visiting at this museum. I would recommend anyone to stop by and visit when in the area or put on your list to visit.

Clifton, TX is a small cute town on the back roads halfway between Ft. Worth/Dallas and Waco. Known for it's big and longtime Bosque Art Center, it is also a town full of well known artists tucked away in the scenic hills surrounding the little town. One of the must-visit art galleries is An Thompson's LA Thompson Gallery of Fine art, right off 5th street on No. D street, a quick left turn off 5th -- this small but well appointed gallery will surprise and delight you with it's top quality art and super friendly gallery owner. An ran a very successful art gallery in Dallas for many years, but decided to slow down and chose Clifton in which to re- open her art gallery; something she has not regretted even after 8 years.
An has a very discerning eye, and shows both well known and up-and coming artists in her gallery, displays changing often, so go back again and again for the latest showings.

Loved the way the light hit the lake and the walls of the dam. This place is great for photography. I hear the fishing is pretty good too.
