Playas de Tijuana

A beautiful beach, some great views of the Coronado islands in the distance. There is a good path to walk on right next to the beach, and you can find some good restaurants with some amazing fish tacos. The crazy thing is seeing the border wall go right through the southern border and disrupt the entire coastline. Its interesting and sad to be down at the beach and see the impacts of the wall, the whole time we were at the beach we could hear the sound of border control helicopters flying over. A beautiful but sad place

Avenida Revolucion

Tijuana's main street, lined with little shops and American fast-food chain restaurants such as Burger King and Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Strolling on Avenida Revolucion is an experience every traveler to Tijuana needs to enjoy. It is amazing the variety of people and places, from world class restaurants to shops; from cafes to casinos; and yes, don't miss the zebra donkeys which will let you snap a pic for a mere $5.00! There are also a number of medical and dental clinics offering routine procedures at a fraction of the American price. And for your pharmaceuticals, there are tons of pharmacys offering over-the-counter and prescription meds and doctor's exams if you are not feeling up to snuff. Revolucion is pure fun! Start at Plaza Santa Cecilia where you will find shops and vendors of everything from clothes to silver; to knick-knacks and souvenirs. You will also find restaurants offering authentic Mexican fare and very reasonable prices. From the Plaza travel south and pass the zebra donkeys. After snapping the picture, do some window shopping. There are souvenir shops, leather goods stores, boutiques, bars, cafes, and tons of jewelry stores. Be sure to check out Emporium. It is well known to give the best bargains in quality silver jewelry and other unique items. We saw a beautiful, hand painted, hand carved wooden peacock among their art objects there. I should have grabbed it, but it would have been a lot to carry around town! Your stroll will take you by Caliente Casino, a small, fun gambling house that, while it doesn't rival Caesar's Palace, it does offer a very diverting gaming experience. After losing some money, you can walk a few doors more to Caesar's Restaurant and drown your bad fortune in any one of their signature cocktails and then taste some pretty fantastic food prepared in the old school style. Avenida Revolucion is where it's at in Tijuana, so enjoy your stroll.
