If you are touring around Kanyakumari district, Mathur Aqueduct or Mathur Hanging Trough is a must see place.. such a breath taking structure built in 60s for irrigation purposes. With a height from the bridge, you can experience a wonderful scenery of lush forest and river on both sides. When you get down on the other side of the bridge, you can even take a small dip in the river during seasons, since the water is clean too.. it is a wonderful experience to witness the river, the trees surrounding it and also the magnificent bridge...

As the name indicates, there is a big sangu(SHELL) located near the shore. The beach looks clean and less crowded with less shops. Sanguthurai Beach is one of the calmest yet cleanest beaches that you should go to, during your visit to Kanyakumari. Sanguthurai Beach is located in the southernmost part of India, and you can feel the fierce power of the Indian Ocean there. However, Sanguthurai Beach is a pretty tranquil place with white sand beaches that sets a perfect background to the coastlineYou can also see Vivekananda Rock Memorial from here in the coastline of Sanguthurai Beach. If vigilant enough, you can also spot a white pillar protruding from the sea at Sanguthurai Beach. In addition to all these attractions, its lukewarm water is perfect for swimming.

Travancore history kept intact here. This Palace is home to many unique antiques and artefacts. Adorned with exquisite wooden carvings and designs, the simplicity of the Palace is what makes it a truly charming destination.Padmanabha puram palace is a splendid example of unique Kerala style architecture. It offers an insight to Kerala's golden era while ruled under the kings of Travancore. Pay attention to the murals at the ticket counter, it is beautiful and the usage of natural colors are amazing. The main gates are ornamented heavily with various wooden sculptures and lotuses whose size , and the perfection straightaway catches ones eyes. You are then lead to a triangular entrance to the main building. Here is were kings used to receive the dignitaries. Look up and you will see an array of 90 lotus that are carved into the ceiling. Timing - 9am–4:30pm. It is Great palace of Travancore kingdom. Built almost 400 years ago. Entry ticket is Rs 35 for adults (Indian). Rs10 for children (Indian). Rs300 for adults (foreign).Camera Rs50. Footwears are not allowed inside the palace, we have to walk barefoot. We have to walk a long way inside the palace and no shops inside the palace so remember to carry enough water with you especially in summer. You can visit this palace on your way to Kanyakumari.

The sunset around this time of the year usually happens around 6 15 pm. It would be good to be present here atleast 1 hour before the sunset. That ways you get to sit on the rocks, have a view of the beach waves, read a book, click photos or simply chat !
