Sitting at the southernmost corner of Maine, Kittery is a charming small town and one of the most historic communities in the state. First settled in 1623, Kittery features some of the oldest architecture in Maine, including the John Bray House, built back in 1662. Nearby Fort McClary has been guarding the entrance to the Piscataqua River for over 275 years, having been manned through five wars. Another nearby attraction is York's Wild Kingdom, the state's largest zoo and amusement park.

Just Us Chickens Gallery is an artist's co-op with locally hand crafted items. We carry a large selection of cards, jewelry, pottery, nautical decorations, women's accessories, American Girl Doll clothes and books by local authors.
En route for many drives up US Route 1, I’d passed by the Just Us Chickens Gallery hundreds of times over the 15 or so years that it had been open. On the most-recent drive, I had time to stop and browse. Although not large, the gallery displayed work by over 30 artists and crafters. It had a wide variety of creations from jewelry, fiber art, and home décor in different media to whimsy and practical items, such as a knit shawl, a jacket, and handmade face masks. I really liked a hanging 3-D cloth fish in purple. It was one of the pieces of whimsy. With COVID-19 not going away anytime soon, I decided to get another cloth face mask. The selection included several for men with patterns with tractors or classic cars. Another style had a white background and small lobsters. I settled on one for women with a light background and a pale green pattern with a few wispy shoots with feathery leaves and a couple of dragonflies. It was well-made. It was $8.00. With 5.5% Maine Sales Tax of 44 cents, the total was $8.44. In all, I thought was very nice shop. I rate the Just Us Chickens Gallery at 5.0 and recommend a visit. Free pony rides, face painting, and live owls and raptors demonstration at KTP’s Labor Day festival was just the ticket for my 4-yr old granddaughter. The store and parking lot are huge and there’s a great selection of clothing and outdoor gear. After you’re done shopping you can pop next door for the best fried clams at legendary Bob’s Clam Hut.

I LOVE CANDY! That being said, this place really has everything. Any kind of candy you can think of is probably here. They also have some homemade stuff which looks fabulous. I love looking through all of the candy and remembering some I had forgotten about. It was just fun to go in and look, but of course I left there with candy! Alot of it! It’s kind of tight in there so if you bring your kids guide them through and I would hold little ones so they don’t rip any packaging open as there is candy everywhere!

When Pigs Fly is an all natural bread bakery featuring over 25 flavors of breads baked fresh each day. We also bake Bavarian pretzels, a variety of cookies and we are making fresh donuts on weekends. We sell olive oils, Vinegars , jams , artisanal butter and other items that accompany bread. Come in and check out our sampling table where you can sample all of our breads
We now have a tradition of having lunch at the WPF pizzeria and then going next door to get our blueberry raspberry lemonade bread to take to camp with us in Downeast Maine. Toast it, put some salted butter on it and you’ve got a tasty treat for breakfast! I also love that the WPF bread is so dense that one piece with an egg or two holds you over for hours while exploring the Maine coastline. This year we also bought apple cinnamon bread and plan to make French toast with it. The company store offers samples... but don’t eat at the restaurant first - you’ll be too full to sample all of the creative and delicious combinations!

My wife and I visited the tasting room on 11/8/2019 and we had a great experience. Denise was our bartender and she could not have been any nicer. We tasted all the beers on tap and enjoyed all of them. My wife loved the Pilsner and I loved Mott the lesser. The atmosphere is very friendly and clean ,even the restroom was very clean. They have a lot of merchandise to purchase as well. We can’t wait to get back there as soon as possible.

The Kittery Outlets are located less than an hour from Boston at the heart of the southern Maine beaches and coastline. Over 120 famous name outlet stores extend for over a mile. The Outlets are open every day of the year with the exception of Christmas and Easter. Plenty of parking, and easy access off Rte 95.
With the Kittery Premium Outlets 25 minutes away from my house, I’ve shopped this and the other outlet malls in Kittery regularly for many years. This Simon Property Group mall is in multiple sections. There are probably about 50 stores in all. On my most-recent visit, I started at the smallest mall which is at 294 US Rt. 1. There are just four stores there; they are Swarovski, J.Crew Factory, Ralph Lauren, and Calvin Klein. I spent about 30 minutes in Swarovski. It was the first time I’d shopped in an actual Swarovski store. It had a lot of nice sparkly clip earrings, pierced earrings, shoulder-sweeper earrings, cocktail rings, fashion rings, necklaces, pendants, tennis bracelets, watches, pins, and many other items. One of my favorite stores is J.Crew Factory. I have a number of J.Crew golf shirts that J.Crew called polo shirts. I’d seen online that J.Crew was having a 60% Off Sale on T-shirts and other tops. I was quite interested in the classic-styled hip-length Cozy Open Sweater. It was Reg. $79.50 and on sale at 62% off at $29.50. It came in ivory and black. I didn’t see it in store. I learned that it was an online-only special. Although it had a limited number of stores, the four that were there were famous designer names and carried high-quality merchandise. Next, I shopped Yankee Candle in the next section of Kittery Premium Outlets up the road at 318 US-1. Although some of the candles were 50% off, I was unable to determine which ones were paraffin, soy, or beeswax. I avoid paraffin due to pollutants. The candles were not clearly marked. The store associates were very busy, so I didn’t buy anything. The section at 325 US-1was next. Gap Factory, Banana Republic, New Balance, Champion, Hanes, and Levi’s in that section. Then, I shopped at the section at 345 US-1. At Lindt Chocolate, I bought an assortment of individually selected Lindt Lindor Truffles – 90% of which involved different blends of dark chocolate. On the north wing of this section, I shopped Go! Calendars, Games & Toys which had calendars at 75% off, plus lots of toys and games. Other stores of interest were: Luggage Loft, Ann Taylor Factory Store, It's All Leggings, Cole Haan, Aéropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, and Old Navy Outlet. in front of Go! Calendars, Games & Toys in section at 345 US-1, there are some mechanical rides for the youngsters. Next, I went to the last section at 375 US Route 1. Coach, Kate Spade, Chico’s, Tommy Hilfiger Factory Store, Clarks, adidas, Skechers, and Columbia Factory Store are located there. At the Columbia Factory Store, the Gert’s Birthday Sale was on its final day. The deal was Buy One, Get One 50% Off the Entire Store. I didn’t find two that I wanted, but it was fun to look. Throughout the sections of this Simon-owned mall, there restrooms, a baby-changing station. and ATM. For the number of stores, the high-quality merchandise in them, reasonable prices, and the ease of getting to and finding parking near any store, I rate Kittery Premium Outlets at 5.0.
