South of Garmisch-Partenkirchen on the Austrian border lies Germany's highest mountain, Zugspitze, rising nearly 10,000 feet and offering gorgeous glacier-top skiing. The towns of Garmisch and Partenkirchen used to be separate, but were merged for the 1936 Winter Olympics. With almost 75 miles of downhill runs of all difficulty levels, Zugspitze also has 68 miles of cross-country trails, a terrain park and Germany's first superpipe. It's super cool to say you were skiing in Garmisch, so be sure to spread the word upon your return.

Hello, I have been living and working in Oberammergau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen for 40 years, for about 15 years I have been taking tourists on my Tours to the Castles of King Ludwig 2nd, the famous Fairy Tale King who built Neuschwanstein Castle near Füssen. There is a lot of history in this area going back to the Bronze Age, the Celts, Romans, Bavarians and Germanen, Garmisch actually means town of the Germanen(Germans). We start your Tour normally at 09:00 am, this normally gives you time for breakfast and we miss the business traffic, there is lots to see and do here but I try to show you the most interesting and with many photo opportunities. I try to combine your interests into my Tours, If you want to know about the Olympics in 1936, the history of Ettal Monastery, Oberammergau, Linderhof and Neuschwanstein then this is the Tour for you. Or you can´t see another Church, that´s OK too, It´s YOUR Tour! I also do Airport Transfers and trips to European Cities!

Opened in 1994 The Irish Pub is a family owned authentic Irish Pub located in the beautiful alpine town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Southern Bavaria. Inside has a traditional pub decor with a square bar in the centre (just like in Cheers) and a beer garden/terrace outside providing views of the Zugspitze, the highest peak in Germany and the surrounding mountains.

I have gone to this special museum several times and always go away impressed. Don't think that you will get a small town museum experience when you go there, because it is anything but that. Artifacts from pre-Roman time periods to the present, provide a view of the historic significance of this small community, through which a Roman supply route stretched through to Vienna, Austria. Well worth a visit!
