I visited this restaurant for a dinner with colleagues from the Canton Ticino (so local experts). And I could appreciate their choice.First, the setting of the dinner, in a courtyard covered by a pergola, in a warm and clear summer evening, arouses in any case a feeling of pleasure. But then we have to mention the food. I talk here only of what I ordered, or of what my colleagues orderd and I could experience: fresh "formaggetto" (cheese) from the nearby Muggio Valley (to taste with oil and possibly pepper), veal with tuna sauce, eggnog with ice cream nuts, trout fillets with vegetables .... all delicious. The service was friendly and fast enough. I don't know the bill, because as a guest I was not allowed to pay, but remember that prices are in line with the Swiss usual ones.Basically, it is a certainly recommendable restaurant.

A restaurant not to be missed if you're visiting Ticino in the southern part of Switzerland. Warm cosy ambience and friendly staff only add to the dining pleasure of very tasty Italian food prepared all with prime ingredients. I'd recommend it without hesitation.

Right off the beaten track, just behind the Serfontana Commercial Centre, Chiasso, you will find a hostelry that takes you back in time. Frequented by locals speaking in dialect, with a huge wood-burning fireplace, this 'grotto' (local name for a rustic eatery) can't have changed much in a hundred years. But the food is extra special - the home-made noodles with wild mushrooms is spectacularly good (tagliatelle ai porcini), as are their pumpkin dishes, soup ( zuppa di zucca) and dumplings ( gnocchi di zucca).Recipes are based on local and seasonal produce. Try the Tomini - locally made soft cheeses.Just one word of warning - the bill - like everything else in Switzerland - is not old-fashioned!

Glad to find such a great restaurant in the small town of Chiasso that opens for dinner. The beef tartar was fresh and well seasoned, tasted amazing on buttered white bread. The menu was handwriten by the chef based on today's fresh produce. My server was handsome, sweetly translated the whole menu for me and picked the perfect wine. The owner and server shaked my hand before I left and said 'see you again soon'. I left feeling cheered up by the hospitality. I definately will be back again!

Montereale family and the new chef Giordano Bertolina welcome you in a modern and informal ambience. High quality cuisine enriched with seasonal products. A wide range of fine wines is available, and the wine shop stocks 4,000 bottles from all over the wo
One of the few Michelin restaurants in the region. Decor is quite dissapointing, it felt a little like an old age home. Service isnt as sharp as other Michelins, though they are friendly. Probably my biggest criticism are the prices which are easily 30-40 Euros more expensive then other 1 star Michelin restaurant menu options. Why do Swiss establishments feel entitled to over-charge? O.k, now about the food: we had the largest menu option (8 courses). Food was good, not menorable though. The dessert courses were much more impressive. Nice to meet the young Chef. I feel with a decor makeover, finer service training, a drop in price and a little more imagination with the main courses this place could be much better.

Carlinos Ristorante is walking distance from my favorite Hotel Garni Cento situated in the midst of central Chiasso right across the Italian border in Switzerland. Carlinos is a perfect destination for a relaxing and romantic evening or dinner out with the family. Serving specialty Italian pasta dishes and fantastic oven fired pizzas, I was delighted by the warm, welcoming staff. No one here spoke English but made every effort to accommodate our party. As an added bonus, there is an old fashioned pinball machine in one corner, which the locals refer to as "flipper"! This was my favorite restaurant in Switzerland. Carlinos in Chiasso is magnificent!!!!! Sent from my iPad
