Tuna roll was extremely fresh. Plenty of fish, and the fish tasted great. Good sized portions.Miso soup met expectations. Good flavor and not too salty.Edamame was a little disappointing. It was cold and tasted a bit grocery store bought.Dining room is small but well-appointed and comfortable. Not at all cluttered. Service was relatively fast and courteous.Price wise average Alameda. Same order at Sushi House is the same exact price.

This place has a pretty decent happy hour menu with a variety of Asian tapas. We came here during happy hour, and 4 of us ordered everything on the happy hour menu that included meat dumplings, egg-rolls, pork belly tacos, edamame, oysters, tempura fries, pork belly sushi, octopus puffs, agedashi nasu, and tuna tartare. Everything was decent, but under seasoned. We were still hungry after sharing all those, so we also got the chicken wings and a couple more tacos. We left with a little room in our stomachs still. The room is a little dark for my taste too. Service is decent, happy hour beer is great as well.
SUSHI! Excellent sushi with a variety of options. We were not disappointed. A few of our highlights: rainbow roll, spicy tuna roll, lemon salmon roll, chicken teriyaki, maguro, Ikura, tako and edamame! You won't go wrong and the gentleman helping us was very friendly and efficient. Thanks!

Tekamaki, tuna roll, was very fresh and tasty. Miso soup was interesting and flavorful. A little more stock than I'm used to, but I really liked it. Edamame was made fresh, but it could have had a bit more salt.Service was outstanding.

They are located in Redwood Square which is basically a walk way off of Park Street across from Alameda Avenue. We had dinner here with friends and the service was prompt and friendly. They had an extensive menu and our selections were all of very good quality and value.

This is one of the best places in Alameda to get sushi. Reasonable prices. And tonight the Ahi Tuna was top-quality.Dining area is weird. I don't know how this place passes the fire code. Extremely low ceilings with even lower passageways requiring anyone over about 5 5 to duck to walk through the room.

I'll start by noting that I work and manage two top rated hotels in Oakland, I have been to this establishment many times and have graciously recommended it to our hotel clientele because the food is superb and the service is generally impressive. However, as a hospitality savant I was disappointed by this restaurant today. The establishment's reservation policies are absurd and not beneficial for their customers. Particularly when you are making a reservation for a group of 6 plus. The issue was that you can only make reservations for the patio which is fine but if it rains your reservation can be annulled without prior notice and their management will not move your table indoors. This is not acceptable and the public should be aware of this practice. I intended to reserve a table for 6 people to celebrate a special occasion with my loved ones and the gentleman I spoke with was carelessly unwilling to work with me to bring the business of a group on a typically slow day for the restaurant industry. I kindly mentioned it was a special occasion and that I graciously forward business to them because the restaurant deserves the recognition and the business. Unfortunately, the poorly trained individual was indifferent and became curt, sarcastically advised I could reserve at my own risk and did not offer to at least add me to a waitlist for this evening. In closing, I intend for the restaurant's executive management to read my review in effort to elucidate them on the importance of customer service which was lacking in this scenario. Regretfully, this unfortunate predicament will cost the restaurant my business moving forward. I would hope that the restaurants' leadership will consider reaching out to make amends with one displeased customer as opposed to losing business by word of mouth from a powerful vehicle such as a top rated hotel in the area that gladly forwards business in the spirit of hospitality and support. I love Yoshi's for their food, service, ambience, venue, what's not to like? Everything was perfect except for 2 things but I'll go into detail after I sing their praises. We came here to see Pride and Joy, a local group celebrating their 37th Anniversary and we have followed them over the years. And what a great intimate opportunity to see them! I made reservations by phone and indicated that we would be celebrating a birthday. We came with 2 other couples who bought Yoshi's gift cards at Costco in advance as you pay $80 for $100 gift cards. Then Before we bought tickets for the show, I saw the general admission tickets on Gold Star for half the price on Ticketfly so I bought 6 tickets! When we arrived it was a few minutes before we were seated but once seated, our server, Michael was very attentive and since he knew it was a birthday celebration as well as us attending the concert inside the showroom, he kept checking with the manager to find out when we would be getting our seat assignments. If you eat in the restaurant, they reserve the seats inside the showroom for your dinner party. Dinner was delish, we had the edamame (complimentary with Yelp check-in), beet salad, spinach salad, black cod, pork chop, and seabass. The only dish that was off was the Brussel sprouts as it was way too sour for our taste. Then we had dessert of sorbet duo, Caf brownie and trio of gelato! Michael remembered to light a candle on the brownie to wish our friend a Happy Birthday! The only other con was that once we finished our dessert and lined up for the show, there was a really long line and we all waited for at least 15 minutes past the showtime to be allowed inside the venue. I believe the reason for the delay was that Yoshi's scheduled another musician to perform at 6:30 pm and after that show, they had to clean up the theatre and let Pride and Joy set up the stage for their show.
