Castle House Museum gives you the opportunity to discover the interesting history of Dunoon and surrounding areas. With views of the Clyde second to none, we host an extensive and fascinating range of exhibits spanning from the early days of the town up to modern times.
We spent a really great time in the Castle House Museum. We were visiting Dunoon in a bit of a nostalgic return having spent many summer holidays there as a child staying grandparents. John gave us a warm welcome and provided excellent advice and help and was the perfect person for the job. His wealth of local knowledge was matched by his knowledge of the contents of the museum and he was very helpful and went out of his way to help answer some queries we had.

There are more than 800 prehistoric and historic monuments within 10 miles of Kilmartin Village. This extraordinary concentration and diversity of monuments distinguishes the Kilmartin Glen as an area of outstanding archaeological importance. It is one of Scotland’s richest prehistoric landscapes. The Museum Gallery and shop are closed at Kilmartin Museum for the duration of the Redevelopment Project during 2021 & 2022. In spring 2021 we will be opening a 'Pop-up' cafe on site which will have an outdoor seating area and information about places to visit in the Glen. Educational activities and guided walks will continue within Covid-19 guidelines, so please visit our website or Facebook page for further information on our activities and the Redevelopment Project.
A must if you want to understand the archaeology of Kilmartin Glen - interesting displays and a cafe and shop as well - good base from which to explore and offer guided walks of the local area too.

The museum is one of the very few visitor attractions currently open in Rothesay but well worth a visit regardless. Artefacts from all ages from Neolithic onwards and a great display of flora and fauna. Found it really interesting and the gentleman on the door was welcoming.

The Submarine Centre in Helensburgh is the home of the last x craft (miniature submarine) built by the Royal Navy. The centres first exhibition is an award winning presentation, presented on the longest video screen in the UK (50 metres) using an array of 22 laser digital projectors. The centre also uses it immersive technologies to host cultural events to numerous national organisations as well as being one of Scotland most unique venues to host events.
What an amazing exhibition - graphics and film bought the incredible story of this submarine to life - rivalled the titanic exhibition in Belfast - a must go
