Molokai embraces the true Hawaiian spirit but without the typical Hawaiian fanfare. The pace is slower here, the nightlife and megaresorts are practically nonexistent (no buildings taller than a coconut tree are allowed), you won't even find a traffic light on this small island (38 miles long and 10 miles wide). You will find tranquility and nature - waterfalls, beaches, coves, coral reefs and rainforests, all best explored by foot, horse or boat. Molokai is also known for its fabulous mountain biking.

Explore the islands of Lāna‘i, Kaho‘olawe, Maui, and Moloka‘i from above on the only helicopter tour of “Greater Maui” with Paradise Helicopters. Over one million years ago, Maui Nui (“Greater Maui”) was a single island forty percent larger than present day Hawai‘i Island. Over time, natural forces drew Maui Nui lower into the Pacific, and its saddles fell below sea-level to form separate islands.

As someone with a major fear of heights, I was the last person in the world who would willingly get on a helicopter. However, I wanted to experience the beauty of Oahu in a way most couldn’t...in the air, hovering in a helicopter. So, before I flew, I shared my fear of heights with Paradise Helicopters, and indicated that I wanted to be away from the window. So they snuggly placed me in the middle of the back seat between two other passengers. This was a nice sized 7-seater helicopter, and it was quite cozy. Our incredible US veteran pilot, Jay Moorman, gave us reassurance that he had everything absolutely under control, and we had excellent flight conditions, as it was 7:45am, clear and sunny conditions, with a light breeze. Our pilot Jay over exceeded my expectations, as he took us to some incredible places normally not seen by most visitors, including green mountain vistas of the Central Valley, as well as a flyover at the USS Arizona Memorial. I put full trust in my pilot Jay, and the flight helped me overcome a fear, while enhancing my entire Hawaiian experience.
Launching from Lāna‘i, view where millennia of exposure to the natural elements of wind, wave, and rain have sculpted the tallest sea cliffs in the world. Touch down at our exclusive Molokai Lookout and slow down to "Molokai time". The expanse of the Kalaupapa Peninsula nestles 600 feet below at the foot of the cliffs. This landing is a special opportunity to grasp how the unique history of Kalaupapa is intimately tied to the isolation of its landscape. It was on this remote finger that over 8,000 people were sentenced to live and die due to leprosy. Now a National Park, Kalaupapa is a monument to the strength of the human spirit illustrated time and again by these brave souls and by the immense compassion of the people who were compelled to help them. After crossing by the historical town of Kalaupapa, you will view northern and eastern Lāna‘i - including Kānepu‘u dryland forest preserve, Keahiakawelo (the “Garden of the Gods”), Polihua, and long, sandy beaches.
