Letterkenny (Irish: Leitir Ceanainn, meaning "hillside of the O'Cannons"), nicknamed "the Cathedral Town", is the largest and most populous town in County Donegal, Ireland. It lies on the River Swilly in east Donegal and has a population of 19,274. Along with the nearby city of Derry, Letterkenny is considered a regional economic gateway. Letterkenny acts as an urban gateway to the Tír Chonaill Gaeltacht, similar to Galway's relationship to the Connemara Gaeltacht.

Conwall Parish Church (Church of Ireland), is located at the top of Church Lane and directly opposite Saint Eunan's Roman Catholic Cathedral in Letterkenny, County Donegal. The area is known as The Cathedral Quarter, and has been a place of worship since the 1630's. The square tower attached to the church goes back further in time as it may have been a lookout post. The surrounding graveyard was the town graveyard for a time, and people from different religions are buried there. Notable amongst those interred are Lord George Hill, his wife Cassandra Jane Knight (a niece of author Jane Austen), her two sister's are buried near Ramelton. Reverend John Kinnear MP, some say the remains of highwayman, Redmond O' Hanlon are buried here too, the Boyd's of Ballymacool (relatives of English model and photographer Patti Boyd), the Wray's, the Stewarts and the Chambers. Letterkenny's official founder, Sir George Marbury and his wife Johanna Everard Marbury are also interred in the graveyard.

Fantastic views and scenes and history to be explored. Be prepared for long walk to and from the castle which is lovely or avail of the shuttle bus for a small fare. A lovely experience.
