By now I think I went in place 3 times and took always the same type of pasta( tagliolini black ink with calamari and octopus) and on all the 3 occasions the pasta was looking and tasting different..first time was really good with calamari and octopus in good quantity, defrosted but still cooked and tasting great. Second time no octopus just calamari and overall dry. Last time, a few days ago and no traces of octopus again ( maybe they are not adding it anyloner..) and overcooked calamari resulting in a bit of a "rubber" texture. Will be back maybe and try something else.. for 16 eur I may be lucky ;-)

The place is great, if can’t find places outside definitely try inside cause interior is very cosy and gives you a great vibe! Try the special platter (can be done for as many people you are although the price is for 2) Staff and food are executed without being too formal or pretentious. Tuna fish stake is great main course but any pasta will excite the pallet, too! Do not leave (no matter how full) without trying the canoli!

When reading a previous review of this restaurant I noted “the best carbonara in the world.” We made reservations prior to departing the US. It was an accurate description. The staff is exceptionally friendly, the vibe casual, the food good and the value noteworthy. Do make reservations. This is a small restaurant and we saw them turn people away.

My wife and I had just arrived in Malta after a long day of travel from NYC. We were looking for a good meal near our hotel and were pleased with the high ratings of this nearby eatery. Had it not been for the high ratings, we would have never eaten here - tiny place, no other dinners, horrible atmosphere. Reassured by the other ratings we dove in - mistake!! The owner chef and his wife (the only server) were friendly enough. The food was ordinary to poor. I had the seafood pasta. A generous mountain of pasta with no appreciable sauce and sparse amount of seafood. The mussels were tiny and did not taste right. My wife had the mushroom ravioli - the sauce was plentiful but the excess salt spoiled the taste. We shared a brochetta while waiting for our mains - tasty enough but served on a piece of plain bread not the customary baguette. As if the ambiance was not bad enough, there was a delivery of lobster right in the middle of our dinner. The box was plopped down right next as the chef move the lobster into the salt water tank in the front of the restaurant. Somewhat surprised about the disparity between the rating and our dining experience I went back to carefully look at the reviews. Many of the 5 star rating were from individuals with only 1 or 2 reviews and/or residents of Malta. Evidently the chef has lots of friends on Malta that over inflated the ratings. This is one case where you trust your instincts NOT Tripadviser.

The best restaurant in Marsaxlokk. (2 people dining, aprx. 19:15)Service was truly excellent, friendly, but very professional. We both would recommend to book a table beforehand or be early in the evening when the restaurant opens. We had 2 cocktails, bottle of wine, two mains and dessert with coffee. Price was below what we expected, and quality of each food was first class. We would come back even for the bread, never had better, a big thank you to the whole restaurant, hopefully we will come and see you again!

I found this place on Google looking for somewhere to eat prior to going to the Hypogeum. I used Messenger a couple of times to contact them to ensure they were open for Tuesday lunch (very quick responses) and even made a booking (completely unnecessary as it happened)! It’s a genuine family run business. The owner speaks only Italian but we managed very well. After being told that the sea bream was a fillet it turned out to be a whole fish so our lunch took quite a while to prepare. I had pasta with the most delicious sauce of rich passata, anchovy paste, garlic, raisins and pine nuts. Lots of sauce so the very kind owner provided me with a spotlessly clean tea towel to use as a bib! Much appreciated and very necessary. With water, a glass of house white and a local beer the bill came in at under €30 (we would have paid year much for the fish in St Julian’s!Recommended if you’re in the Paola area.

We came here based on a local’s recommendation and it was very good. We are outside on the terrace overlooking the port and the market. Upon the owners recommendation I took the king prawns freshly caught. It was delicious. Simple but delicious. We had the octopus tartare and it was very fresh and delicious as well. Grilled calamari was well cooked , melting in our mouth and seasoned to perfection. I would have given you a 5* review but the fact that the lobster was alive in a see trough box in front of me during my lunch, disturbed me. I am obviously not vegan but it was disturbing to have that poor little lobster suffer in front me. I don’t want to see that while I have lunch. Also his legs were sticking out of the box and everything was going through it and I’m sure it hurt him. I observed the reaction of the people walking by and a lot of them had the same reaction as me. It’s maybe better to keep it behind closed doors instead of showing it off.
