If you like unagi (river eel) this is an excellent choice to enjoy this delicacy. It is first steamed and then grilled with a very typical semi-sweet sauce. It is served on rice with some savory goodies on the side and of course osumashi soup. Recommended.

The staff didn't seem to like serving foreigners. We didn't receive hot towels or tea until we asked. The food was expensive and only so-so quality, completely forgettable. We went because it was late (almost 10pm) but they seemed to be put out that we wanted a meal.

A simple restaurant serving good japanese food in a simple setting. We tried the season menu: eight courses including fish, beef and vegetarian dishes. Very good and reasonably priced. if you want an elegant kaiseki meal, this is not for you, but you'll love the food! no wine choices, but sake and beer are available.

As S-PAL shopping mall is right next to the JR Sendai station, you can drop by Sushitetsu before you start your tour or rent a car. This place is based in Shiogama, a key fishing port near Matsushima, so the fish is really fresh and local. Try their Shiogama Monogatari set (about Y4000 yen) where the chef chooses the assortment for you. Cost performance is very high. For more, check `hiddenjapanguide.com`

This restaurant is located on the west side of the station. Turn right when exitingthe station on the ground floor. Taxi stand is to your left.Had dinner here and the food was very good. They have a picture menu whichwill help if you are not a Japanese speaker.I was with my wife who speaks Japanese so I cannot say how much if any Englishis spoken by the staff.I highly recommend this place for a great meal.If you are staying at the Toyoko Inn #1 a taxi will cost 750 yen back to the hotel if the weather is bad.
