I've had trouble finding restaurants around Amanzimtoti - outside the Galleria Mall. Zanzibar reflects the local vibe - very laid back - and the service is slow but the seafood fresh, reasonably priced, and delicious. Don't expect too much - the food is great!

How brilliant is a 24 hour fish shop. Like if I happen to feel like having some crayfish at 2 in the morning I can actually go get some :D Seriously.. they are open 24 hours a day. Besides that, the fish and seafood at this shop is consistently fresh and of excellent quality. I would not buy fish from anywhere else.

The Fish Box and Ribs is an amazing little spot on Old Main Road, Gillitts. This eatery is divided into two sections. The left-hand side serves take-out including the best fish, calamari and chips I have ever had in KZN, as well as ribs (select your size and flavour from the fridge - gas-braai'd in front of you) and prego rolls etc. The right-hand side offers a number of delights including decadent home-made brownies, baked cheesecake, rusks, biscotti etc (subject to availability). A daily seasonal menu of three or so items is available for sit-in at the delightfully eclectic and stylish cafe. The proprietor and owner takes a personal interest, acting as a gracious host and chef. The food is out of this world, and extremely good value for money. This has definitely become a personal favorite for me! Just make a note to check their opening hours online as they close most evenings at 7pm.

Fish and Chips worth a mention, our second take away from Two Vikings and once again well pleased, for R92. 00 you get two large fillets and a lot of chips. Phone through your order as they get quite busy and with everything cooked fresh you might have to wait a while if you just pitch up.Well worth a visit.

We love there food, and the Wednesday\Thursday prawn special for 12 prawns for R99 is really value for your money. Did not have any Mozambique beer which was a shame(due to import problems). Although the meal was acceptable, slightly warm rather than hot, the service was terrible. We waited for half an hour for drinks and another for the food. We were there for one and a half hours, for what should have been a quick meal in a mall. The table was not cleared and we had to call the manager to pay. We should have walked out seeing that they did not want to take the payment. It was a really bad experience so if you want to eat and continue to shop this us not the place to go.
